Re: Full size railway reference and picture thread

ge_rik wrote: Mon Jun 05, 2023 11:08 pmWhy didn't I think of that? Massively wide wheel treads to compensate for an irregular track gauge.
Years ago, there used to be a whimsical exhibition layout that settled the 32mm vs. 45mm argument by using variable gauge track between the two, and using similar wheels to allow it to happen.

Re: Help - U.K SAR info wanted

And it no longer exists. The owner and builder dismantled it all earlier this year: http://nwwales.16mm.org.uk/cshhr.html Unfortunately, he broke Garden Railway Rule No. 1: Wood has no place when building a garden railway. I saw Ian only yesterday and he was telling me that he's sold the track and g...

Re: Lady Ann will not run

The regulator closes by compressing an O-ring on the end of its spindle. This does not need to be fully forced to shut, otherwise the loco will behave as you describe. Instead it needs to be wound out probably by one turn or so before the operating handle (connected to the servo) is locked in its &q...

Re: TVT - Dylanesque

Looks great, what colour will it be painted? And I am glad that I gave just the smallest part of inspiration right at the start. On my web page, PATHFINDER is my own loco, and the first one I obtained. Second-hand, cost me £180. A lot has changed/been replaced since then though. Factory-built Dylans...

I used to drive full-size on the Festiniog Railway.

Personally, I can't stand Slomos either.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1

I reckon every Roundhouse Classic Loco should come with a whistle supplied. They did, on one, the Vale of Rheidol 2-6-2T, and they provided instructions on how to maintain it. It appears that few owners read those instructions and VoR whistles continue to be a problem as the control valve can seize...

That's unusual. Normal practice is to come off the top of the tank to avoid liquid gas being fed to the burner. It causes surging when that happens.

Re: accucraft ng 16 re guaging

With all those wheels, it takes a while. Use Allen key supplied, loosen grub screw, slide wheel down axle, tighten grub screw back in to the drilled hole in the axle. Check the gas tank too. They were / should have been replaced when the locos were new. You may have to contact Accucraft with the ser...
