Jim. No offence meant or, I hope, taken. I hope you have a fantastic day and may we have some junior modellers before to long?

Wooden Loco's

Just an idea for those who have laser cut loco's. The big problem, for those made from ply especially, is the grain in the material. How about wrapping the body with aluminium foil. A thin coat of Evostick or similar and carefully smooth the foil over. Panels be as smooth or wrinkly as you wish and ...

Project Phoenix

Now run into a problem. As I've boxed in the corners to fit ballast, there's no room for switches. Forward/reverse in the cab is OK,but I also have to fit a change over switch for the on board charge socket and speed control + charge socket. Speed control on the AnDel unit is a separate pot so that'...

They do go a bit quick. I'm fitting 6 rechargeable AA's under the bonnet with an AnDel speed controller. That'll tame it. I've also boxed in three corners and poured in Liquid Gravity. It's a lot heavier now. Ideally I'd like to fit metal wheels. Should be possible.

My first 7/8th loco. I found a Novo Ruston sulking at the bottom of the box so thought I would do something with it. First of all,I squared up the ends, the leveled the top off. I'm running this one with the motor up front so I can fit the switches in the cab. Although the loco is small it's a bit o...

They'll have to save up for some new tyres as well, judging by wheel slip.

Peco Sleepers

Does any one know if Peco SM32 sleepers can be bought on their own? Not the point timbers, just the standard sleepers as fitted to their Flexitrack. Failing that, does any one have a quantity they don't need? Thank you.

Track Problem

I'm starting to build a small 7/8th scale line and have run into a snag. I've got Code 200 flat bottom rail and 12mm copper clad sleepers and my soldering irons have trouble with it. Can any one recommend what wattage iron I would need? My biggest iron is 60 watt. Thank you.

Crisis of Faith

As mentioned in an earlier post, I'm looking at a 7/8th scale micro layout and it's huge compared with 16mm. Just drawn out a small workshop building (scale 12x 8 ft.) and it was a bit of a shock. A figure scales out approx. 6"! Phew. Plenty of scope for detail.

Crisis of faith

I did 009 many years ago and was put off by unreliable and restricted choice of chassis. Ended up building my own split frames and 8mm gauge! Moved to 16mm and found it a great scale. I don't have a line of my own for security reasons, the modern world being what it is,and have now moved up again to ...
