Re: British businesses who won't sell to Canada

As a fellow Brit now living in Canada, all be it on the far side vs. Keith, I've only experienced this from Swift Sixteen, but also don't know the reason. I do know that Canada has some VERY restrictive laws on paint, beyond just requiring all safety guidance to be included on the label in both Engl...

Re: North Pilton Works

When I called in a year ago they seemed to supply a lot of items to Garden Railway Specialists. Might be worth giving them a call to see if they have a line of contact?

Re: Merlin gas filler valve

Hmm. Thanks for this Graeme. I'm only just getting to take a close look at the Merlin valve side by side with a new style Roundhouse one. The Roundhouse one won't fit the Merlin tank. The unthreaded portion of the Roundhouse valve is actually too large that it won't allow the valve to fit into the h...

Merlin gas filler valve

Anyone know if the Roundhouse Ronson valve will fit a Merlin gas tank? The filler on my Monarch is a pain to fill. I've removed the valve & soaked it for 48 hours in acetone with no improvement. It fills slowly with no clear sign when the tank is full.

Re: The Pine Hill Railway (PHRy) - a Norwegian Garden Railway

Agreed with others. I've watched that latest video 3 or 4 times now and it doesn't get old. Beautiful scenics and attention to detail. A question for you, if I may. What radius are your curves that you had difficulty running your Brandbright 4-wheel coaches on that you converted them to bogies?

Happy to add my collection of four Brandbright 4-wheelers for another 800mm. Would need a long coupling chain to reach me in Canada though!

I'll throw a debut entry in this time around, though it's not of the usual quality I see here. Most will recognise these locos as being twenty years apart in design. "With some help from my friends:"

Those look great! I'm most impressed with those axle boxes. Did you 3D print those a well? I've found it really tricky to draw leaf springs in CAD. I think your efforts might inspire me to try again.

Guessing that's where the base was printed slightly off the bed, & the supports removed?

This looks excellent, Trevor. I had a look at the files but can see adapting it to 45mm (sacrilege, I know...) is going to take a bit of work...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

You guys make a good point. Most of my running is done at a club layout with 6 independent loops, which allows for multiple reasons to be running without fear of interference. For those of you that find it handy to have an extra transmitter for when friends come to visit/play, doesn't the receiver f...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

Since this thread has veered far enough off topic to include general questions pertaining to Deltang-based R/C methods, I'll ask this here (with further apologies to the original poster...) What are the groups thoughts on the selecta option, and having multiple locos paired to the same controller? I...

Your Mayflower looks lovely. Interesting you mention it can be troublesome to light from the chimney. My Monarch can also be a bit tricky. I find it lights much easier from under the smoke box if that's an option?

Re: Has radio control changed in the past 20 years?

Some good info on here showing servo connection wiring of the various brands: http://fatlion.com/sailplanes/servos.html As mentioned, these days all brands have the positive (usually red) wire in the middle, with ground (-) and signal wires to the outside. This way, reversing the plug reverses the c...

Re: Which RC (and variable reverser question)?

A steam loco with 2 servos will always work as low off. A reverser servo and a regulator servo. No idea why someone would put just one servo in and try and drive it from a static regulator and a servo on the reverser, what a night mare to try and control. I have run loco's (and in fact still have s...

Done. I will say, the original driver behind this of arguing on the internet seems a bit of a waste of time.
