Re: Now this is just absolutely ridiculous.

I guess that the owner does nothing else but run his railroad.

Re: Sweet Miscellany

That corrugated 'tin' van is the bees knees. Top marks on the cunning sliding door feature. The mesh window guards are a great feature too. I have in mind to build a mail van from an adapted coach kit and fly screen mesh would be ideal, though you don't see it much here. Don't know why; it may be co...

Some really interesting equipment getting an outing there. The SP car is a stunner. Is that a roundhouse Sammy lurking near the shed?

Re: Plans of a New Zealand DFB class wanted

Try the New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society. I think a lot of NZR 3' 6" guage modelling is done in S gauge. I used to live there and I remember the Da , Dc, and Dx classes but I had left the country before the Df's were introduced. In the 1950's they had another class of loco classified ...

I like these models. The DP is an interesting beast. Never seen these before. Is it based on a Tasmanian prototype?

Re: Infestation of box tree moth in north Suffolk

I had a short box hedge of about 10 trees alongside my track which got to about 2' in height. I thought I had escaped but alas they were all decimated last year.. I have replaced them with a mixed bag of heather, hebe and another small 'architectural' shrub whose name eludes me, but I have seen adve...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

I'm with you on the southern liveries Bertie. I think nothing matches the green. I always thought the NSE 'toothpaste livery' was hideous.

p.s, Some locos look great in any livery. A class 73 would look great in a pink frock.

Re: Truly inspirational!

I like the washed out pale blue paint on the locos. Looks like it was painted 40 years ago and been out in all weathers since. Often wondered how that 'worn thin' look is achieved.

Re: Non Polarised Magnets

I experimented with magnetic couplings using some small jewellery magnets. I needed to ensure wagons were the correct way round on the track so the magnets were N/S N/S N/S the length of the train. The magnets I used were a bit small for the job and too much tension would cause the wagons to separat...

.. or should I say you have created the garden surroundings perfectly to make the railway fit into the landscape.

Re: The Pine Hill Railway - a Garden Railway in Norway

Ah yes, I recognised the Jennie and the Silver Lady but in the aerial film of the Silver Lady I thought it was a different loco. A really good garden layout. I looked on the map to see where you are. As it is southern Norway hopefully you get most of the year free to enjoy the garden and not buried ...
