Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

Work continues on the railway. I redid the timber retaining wall. Originally had them set at 18 inches above the level of the patio. Seemed to high for some reason. Opted to lower it all down to 12 inches. That took several hours to accomplish. Afterwards I continued moving dirt, covering the concre...

I built a 10x12 shop a couple of years ago for my motorcycles with a corner reserved for my train workbench.

With the divorce in June... the entire house is now my train workshop.

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

Much cooler weather arrived this weekend. Today I began to wheel barrow dirt from the former layout site to the new layout... about 100 feet apart... and covering the concrete rubble before a cold drizzle started.

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

Thanks Philip. I'm doing as much as I can before colder weather arrives (usually late November). I should be working on my house addition but until I get around to installing the trailer hitch on my new car in order to use my trailer to bring home supplies... I figure it would be more fun working on...

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

Somewhat cool day here in central Oklahoma... but the humidity is a kicker as we've had two nights of rain. Any physical activity works up a sweat. But I pressed on with installing the landscape timber retaining wall. I managed about 20 feet before running out of existing timbers. Not an issue as I ...

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

The day started out with rain but by noon the skies had cleared enough for me to continue with work on the TDMCo. The task today was to completely remove the approximately 24 feet of concrete cinder blocks and bricks of the former exterior wall which I succeeded in accomplishing. I'll be leaving a 1...

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

Radii of the loops will be between 36" and 48". All my equipment is radio controlled. I favor actual operating and car movements/switching to just watching trains run in circles.

Re: The Two Dogs Mining Company

Thanks gents. I forgot to mention that the sketch is very much not to scale. My experience has been to just get a basic idea of the track plan and let the actual dictates of the landscape determine how it all comes to fruition. I try to avoid any straight sections of trackwork as much as possible. A...

The Two Dogs Mining Company

This evening I began on the new Two Dogs Mining Company (TDMCo.) in spite of the heat. Included is a rough sketch of the layout track plan. It's a simple loop-to-loop design folded up on itself. A small mine will be located at each loop with a town located about mid-point where the mill will be plac...

Re: Two Dogs Railway

Thank you gentlemen. It's all working out well for me in the long run. Life goes on and simmering in a pool of self-pity wouldn't get me anywhere. I've been slowly planning how the new layout will fit. I've got a few small oak trees in the way and don't want to have to eliminate them. So I'm test fi...

Re: Two Dogs Railway

I'm still dealing with lingering issues from the motorcycle accident. Mostly with the right ankle which has left me with a slight limp, especially when the weather turns inclement. At least the bike is back in shape and I'm back to riding too.

I'll keep ya'll updated as things progress...

Re: Two Dogs Railway

As of today the TDRwy has ceased to exist. The track was pulled and stored away to be eventually reconstituted in the future Two Dogs Mining Company sometime this fall/winter. I've been dismantling what was previously a spare room on the north side of my house. Neighbors have told me the room was or...

Welcome to the forum. If I were a renter, I'd keep things simple and small. Empires require too much time, energy and money.

Re: If We Don't Have Internet

My internet usage is primarily for info and done entirely on my phone as I dropped the home internet after the divorce. This is the only forum where I'm a member. I don't do social media anymore. Lights in the house require I physically flip a switch. I do use a remote for the television on the rare...
