Re: Applying custom lettering?

This only works well on black painted wagons, though.
I tried to do much the same with some yellow lettering on a green background but try as I might I could never get the printed green on the transfer to match the painted green on the railbus sides.

That is looking good, well done. If the lettering does rub you can always touch it up again. :)

Re: Dreaming of a small Indoor layout

Magnetic couplings are the way to go: They are a fantastic idea Tom. Very, very clever. I have always liked the centre chopper types. BUT how would they go on the tight curves? They would have to 'swivel' a lot. Can they do that? Greg, Just a thought for you - I've also always liked the way Tom's m...

Here is the layout plan ‘so far’ Since it will be in my wife’s old pottery ‘studio’
It looks to be a real masterpiece in the making. One question though, what are the O/A dims?

I'd do as Tom says and gently tap them out. Once you've broken the grip they should come fairly easily.

Thanks Graeme.
Thats interesting to know and not something that had ever crossed my mind before. Food for thought, although being without a lathe I think I'll have to live with a problem I never knew I had before!

Re: Point problems

First few thoughts (apologies if I'm trying to teach granny..!), 1) if you push it across a flat table ( not on rails), does it tend to curve off to one side? 2) are the axles dead parallel, are they at right angles to the chassis and are the wheels equal distances from the solebars? 3) does the cha...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

. More of a concern is the nuisance caused by our feathered friends who fling my track-side accessories everywhere in their search for insects..... You have my sympathy with that Peter. Not so much trackside accessories, but I've lost count of the number of times already that I've retrieved and rep...

Re: Fitting a mini MP3 sound system in a loco

It's just the higher speeds that I think sound like a 'roar'. Just thinking, I thought the tick-over sounded too tinny but the first gear sounded Ok, but then the faster ones kind of blurred ( your 'roar'?). I suspect that we are all comparing apples with every other kind of fruit imaginable, based...

Re: Fitting a mini MP3 sound system in a loco

Thats a lot of work Greg, but I think I agree with you that the final loco with original system sounds better.
Now that you've solved the battery installation and the speakers, is it worth replacing the original Picaxe?
