Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Good afternoon all! A little development of interest perhaps. Today has seen the first trial run of Hollycross's latest loco, an IP Jessie. Built exactly as per the instructions using the included manual speed controller and standard batteries for now, she is intended to be something the Grandkids c...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

There's a village near Skipton called Barnoldswick, pronounced Bar-lick, and the station beyond Huddersfield is called Slaithwaite, pronounced Slaa-witt! Must be a Yorkshire thing. Ey up cock!

Re: MOD Powder van doors.

Cheers Phillipy. I like the IP kits that are made a bit chunkier to match the slightly larger Accucraft locos, and have adapted a few of them quite simply. In this photo, all the coaches were the same kit but by positioning the door handles and roof vents differently, and scoring a couple of extra d...

I also have a couple of the same vans made up as standard box vans but I sanded the ends to a curve and fitted a one piece roof

Re: MOD Powder van doors.

Yes, 2 ends, and each side is made up of 2 side panels and a double door section in the middle. I have one which I slightly altered the stripwood framework on and its now in use as a fish van! I have some sloping vents to add still. As the instructions show, the 'doors' section overlaps the edge of ...

Glad you got to it Andrew, it's very much my/our methodology and I was sure you'd be interested in reading through it at least. I've followed his pages for a long time, and as it says he's a professional Civil Engineer too so I reckon he has more than half a clue what he's up to!. Onwards and upward...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway

Andrew, not sure whether you need to be a member of ngrm but if you can access the site somehow, just have a nosey at this garden line, it may just give you some inspiration before you decide to start taking on a load of extensive and expensive remodelling. Cheers! https://ngrm-online.com/index.php?...

Re: The Charnwood Forest Light Railway

As a Filcris advocate, Ive learned its a very easy to use product, quick to erect, easy to cut, screw together and one big advantage is its flexibility. Ive noticed this numerous times on my railway when on a hot day, the whole frame can move outwards slightly as it expands, though ive never had any...

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Another superb little clip of the life and times of ' The Peckforton'. It really is a fascinating little railway, the reporting is as good as any railway journal, the little people and their lives are believable, and the blog is packed with such interesting and invaluable information. I watched the ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Loving those wagon loads and the fact they can be easily swapped about utilising the wagons full potential as per prototype. I used bath sponges, 35p from a local Pound Shop. I just nip the top to remove them. Here's an I.P. WD open wagon with a load of sand, which is actually not sand! I just carve...

As the advert says Andrew, Every little helps! Even just mulling over ideas or pre planning is all progress. I'm the same, things seem to stop for a while, then all of a sudden, it's all happening. Battle on, you'll get there!

For me, I love the encroaching foliage just begining to meet between the rails, and also the guard taking in the fresh air on the verandah of his van. Fantastic atmosphere!

Re: The Hollycross Railway Company!

Good afternoon everyone! Well, I've just come back indoors after a couple of days graft on the railway during a weekend possession. There have been further developments around Hollycross Station and the Junction after deciding to forge ahead with an idea that's been 'bubbling around' for bit. So, wh...

Superb bit of video, reminds me of the steam special videos on YouTube showing the well patronised carriages and the lights reflecting outside. Shame it wasn't a longer film but understandable. Brrrr!.....
