Re: Changing IP Engineering wheels
I don't understand why they supply wheels fitted to axles that then have to be taken off and fitted to other axles. Seems silly. I think it may be because IPE don't manufacture their own wheels, they may buy them in from somewhere else pre-made. I bought a Hudson Tipper wagon recently and the cardb...

Re: Changing IP Engineering wheels
Seems very logical to use heat. ANOTHER simple and basic tool. Thanks for the suggestions. A bright idea I might try is to email IPE and ask what they suggest. If I get an answer I will post it here.

Changing IP Engineering wheels
Hi all, I recently bought an IP Engineering 4WD chassis. The kit requires the wheels supplied to be removed from their fitted axles and transplanted onto the new axles in the kit. It amused me to read the instructions which proclaimed, "The minimum amount of tools are required ie: small round f...

Smoke generators in electric locos
Does anyone have any experience/advice/ideas regarding installing smoke generators in electric locos? I wonder if Seuthe generators might be a possible idea but these might be small if they are aimed at 4mm scale. I would like to try to have smoke issuing from my (yet to be built) electric locos if ...

Nameplates
Can anyone recommend a supplier for bespoke brass nameplate/numberplate engraving? I am doing 16mm SM32 and need somewhere where I can obtain nameplates with my own names on them. Many thanks in anticipation.

Re: Is this a "Garden Railway" ?
I would regard it as a novelty, a talking-point. Perhaps it is just a 'see-what-you-can-do-with-this' kind of thing. A bit like 'is a circle of track around the Christmas tree a model railway?' Must admit it is pretty clever though.

Re: Metal paint
I have just tried Rustoleum paint. This is an interior and exterior under and top coat in one which is multi-surface. Seems to work well on wood and metal straight from the tin. Nice to apply and gives a good finish. Not a huge range of colours but has gloss/satin/matt finishes. Does plastic as well...
