Hi Annie. The Cracker design has always interested me because of this wee loco that was used on a tramway here in New Zealand. Interesting engine it looks as if it has non flanged wheels and is running on 'L' shaped track.  Do you know any more about this locomotive like what does the other side lo...

Celcius, I get the oven (electric baby belling) up to temperature as I paint, then put the item in and turn it off. I then leave it for an hour to cool.

45mm gauge as I model in gauge one, although not a fair example as I am aware that this is a predominantly 16mm forum.

I personally paint them as I go. which works well with a Screwdriver kit such as a pre-painted Aster, but I'm not so sure about a Barrett. I suppose you could paint each part after Fitting it. I think you are wise if it works, because personally I hate stripping down an oily locomotive to paint it....

Yes indeed, Bessy.  What are you building? If you like this kind of web Forum, try my Standard Gauge one: http://g1rf.myfastforum.org/ which is modelled on this one - same software (same bugs) and same image handling. If you fancy the conversational style of an email group (instead or as well), I c...

any other gauge one chaps here?

Just wondered if there were any other gauge one modellers here? In my absence from this forum I've been selling my 16mm stuff and building lots of gauge one stuff. Nothing against 16mm (I kept my beloved mamod and ruby) but standard gauge is more my thing.

If you want really indestructible paint, get a cheap electric oven, spray some enamel on and bake. The problem with car aerosols is they are usually acrylic which hates heat. Upol acid 8 is super stuff

I have been busy today. The smokebox has been built complete with furniture. The smokebox is made out of laminated laser cuttings to get the distinct shape, these were then soldered together with high temp soft solder. The chimney was soldered in from within the smokebox and the door was soldered on...

I'll take a photo of it with a mamod loco and you'll see what I mean. Thanks, I look forward to that. :) as promised!  Its a bit smaller than your average Mamod, but quite a bit taller, as befits its origins! Smokebox parts are on order at the laser cutters. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w107/...
