The mamod reference, wasnt to undermine the work you have done, but to put it into perspective that you DID do some work, and so did the Sabre steam Annette, Also, My Bertie had Loose steam pipes when new, And they needed tightening, I also know of a Millie with the sa...

Ask for proof that they're Riverdale? Afterall, they could be Sabre ones.... Doug, Id take that back. Nothing wrong with a Sabre steam boiler other than a little fettle, emery cloth to smokebox to get a better seal. As I understand, its a roundhouse set of castings, that are usually soldered togeth...

Andrew, is your longer link soldered closed? If not, do you think it will pull apart from a train load? I built some Corris loco couplings, by soldering a brass plate to some bits of chain, it only came loose recently, after a derailment and a very stuck coach it finally gave in after about 3 years...

It depends, sometimes on the railway, if there was a platform at each end, where the car could be driven on or off, or a 'tramway' like section of track where the car could be driven, up ramps over the headstocks and down into the well between the bogies. (these usually had wooden chocks that allow ...

Ill get some pictures, I also lowered the axleboxes, though I didnt wo...

A smear of steam oil or light grease on the o ring to make them less likely to spring shut again is a good call. When you get a feeble flame, try tugging the actual handle out, away from the tank gently, Mine would have a feeble flame, and go out or have everything, I checked the whole system over, ...

Is the gas tank frozen? Is liquid gas coming out the vent at the top when you fill the gas? The valve for the gas when you turn it on, try pulling it back[gently!](not turning it but pulling) and see if it burns better, Mine I could open the valve and increase the flow a suprising amount by the slac...

Shroud with black/white angles? Could you explain further? Behind the gauge glasses on full size locos, there is usually in the safety glass housing a black and white stripey bit of metal, that helps you spot the minuscus on the water and determine the level. It works by refraction, making the part...
