Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Thanks for the comments but I must add that the picture of Beddgelert is on the Echills Wood Railway's 16mm layout. As I mentioned Beddgelert & the NWNGR rake is all a bit big for my garden railway but it runs & looks a treat on the bigger EWR layout. The artificial grass does look really go...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Hhmm, where did the last few months go? The Candleford Green Light Railway has had a busy summer hosting lots of socially distanced garden parties with the correct number of visitors until the season ended with Sutton Coldfield getting dragged into the Birmingham Lockdown :-( Having time on my hands...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Dodgy driving but still a run out for Beddgelert :D Everything ended up a bit rushed as I spent a considerable amount of time trying to work out why Beddgelert would only go in reverse. Having fiddled with everything connected to the reversing lever the penny finally dropped that the batteries were ...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Thanks Rod, I must admit the coaches are growing on me considering they were a completely unplanned impulse buy as a friend of mine said they were a bit of a bargain price :-) They are quite scary to watch though in any breeze as the metal roof makes them quite top heavy & they do sway alarmingl...

Great photos, they work really well. The lighting & contrast in the 1st image is particularly effective

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

One image from a sunny day's running at the weekend. More coaches not really suited to 38" curves :? As with the NWNGR stock there was never any real intention to run these Stuart coaches on the CGLR. They were bought S/H at a recent G scale show to run with Bulldog on The Echills Wood Railway ...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Huge thumbs up to Wickes :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright: Placed a click & collect order yesterday afternoon & got the confirmation email just before 4pm. Popped down this morning to find no queue & a really helpful young employee who even offered to load everything in the car for ...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Thanks Rob, The giant tortoise is probably looking bemused because he can't work out why he's stuck in a pen with only slate to eat whereas there is a big lawn full of juicy grass the other side of the railway :D There aren't any plans for dinosaurs to roam Candleford Green though. At the moment.......

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Hi Andrew, Thanks for commenting & funny you mention the Pickering Brake, it is in the assembly shop at the moment :-) Technically it shouldn't run with Beddgelert as it was delivered to the NWNGR the year after Beddgelert was broken up, but I think a little modellers license is allowable :D The...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Hi Tom, Thanks for commenting. Beddgelert is brand new & is a little tight a the moment. I think it just needs a decent bit of running in to sort out a tight spot. If that doesn't fix it I'll have to wait for Roundhouse to reopen. As I said though it is a bit of a beast with a long overhang &...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

2nd time I'm apologising for the lack of posts & involvement in the forum :( Most of the back end of last year was lost to sorting out the cr*p that life throws at us & I then tried to start this year in a much more positive vein with big plans for the Candleford Green Light Railway & al...

Re: Recomendations for a 'Recovery Loco'

A bit late coming to this thread but I finally had a moment to try my RH Bulldog hauling a Lady Anne & 3 heavily weighted IP engineering coaches with mixed results. Fine on the level & around 3' 6"" radius curves but even my 1 in 70 gradient caused lots of wheel spinning & spee...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

Firstly apologies for the lack of updates, it hasn't been a great summer & frankly interest in the garden railway wained as other matters had to be addressed. However a visit to North Wales & it's narrow gauge railways coupled with SWMBO inviting the neighbours round for an afternoon garden ...

Re: Micron radio control

Which transmitter is it? Is there an obvious centre off position on the speed dial or is it a low-off working as a centre off somehow which is as you're describing it? In which case I'd guess the Tx has been reconfigured rather than anything to do with the Rx as both versions of Tx are available fro...

Re: The Candleford Green Light Railway

There hadn't been any progress at all on the CGLR this month as my father passed away at the beginning of the month. It was expected but still knocked the wind out of my sails. I decided though that sitting around the house wasn't achieving anything & as I'm in limbo between the funeral & be...

Re: Track advice

I've very recently laid my track with 38" radius setrack curves & certain items of stock are struggling to get round. My Roundhouse Lady Anne is fine thanks to the flangeless centre driving wheels but an IP engineering Glaslyn, surprisingly, isn't happy at all. Wheel back to backs are criti...

Re: Trims on Radio Control

From the factory my Lady Anne wouldn't allow the regulator to fully shut even with the trim (digital on my Tx) fully adjusted. Simply resetting the trim to the centre position, undoing the grub screw & ensuring the regulator was fully closed before tightening the grub screw solved the problem at...
