Re: 7/8ths water tower
Hello, I don't really think you need to worry too much about proper looking rust. As 7/8ths scale is viewed at about 30 feet on average, a darkish stain....paint! can pass as rust! I have noticed passing corrugated tin buildings gone rusty the above applies...you do not see the rust detail...just th...

7/8" scale Directors Coach.
At the moment I am making a scratch build of a number of wagons in 7/8" scale. The first item has just been finished...what could be called a..... 'Company Directors Coachette'... This small coach is fully supplied with canvas curtains plus a gas hob for that important coffee break, and also a ...

Hello, I have a whistle on my 2003 Millie that runs off the boiler take-off that would normally have the water glass thingy there. I have a two pipe screw on attachment. One pipe goes to the whistle under a false side tank and the other pipe goes up the chimney for dramatic steam effects...for photo...

Hello T.T. You could buy 35mm plastic waste water pipe and have the wagons carrying a sewage? pipe load??! The flat buffer on your wagon may cause buffer locking if going round tight bends. You may consider a buffer with a half moon curve to the face...these can be knocked up cheaply. I replaced the...

Hello Peter, Thanks for the kind reply. Yes of course, feel free to chuck my item in the bin! No worries. I too tear out the rare items that interest me in SMT then throw the magazine into the bin when the next one turns up. I used to have bound SMT's going back to 1986 but thought after a while the...

Thank you all for your comments. I was not moaning/complaining about the Ffestinog guide, I was mearly wondering how the guide was picked! Peter Butler.....I joined the Association around 1987 after very much thought and phone calls from the membership secretary! No internet then...or local associat...

Who decides what come's next??!
Hello, Below is a topic about the latest offering from the 16mm Association...a guide to the Ffestinog Railway. I was wondering how...and who decides what topic is going to be done next?? As a freelance modeller of a agricultural tramway set in the middle of the country I have utterly no interest in...

I have often wondered how these guides are selected? My guide turned up today. I suppose its alright and I flicked through it but as I am not interested in North Wales narrow gauge I don't suppose it will get much use. Just like SMT the photo's are in part un-natural...totally clean engines and un-b...

Hello Chris, I find Jakarna has a quite a long run anyway. I paint calibrations on the regulator and gas controls. Doing this I now know exactly how much to turn up the gas without getting 'flame-creep' out of the burner. As the amount of gas used is not much the runs last a long time! I have to han...
