Re: Pop Safety Valve

The WeeBee s/v cured the problem for me.
They are available in UK from Anything narrow Gauge.
https://anythingnarrowgauge.co.uk/colle ... ies?page=7
You will need the adaptor for either Rh or Accy.

Re: Caradoc - Third Question!

Hello Nigel, This is/was the usual way to run Accucraft generic locos. Later customer requests led to adding RC to the regulator. Using a (UK) stick controller, the right-hand stick controls speed and direction, with centre neutral. The boiler level device, often called a blow-down valve, is left op...

Re: RAL3004

When my Roundhouse Karen ran away and derailed, I needed a touch-up for the FR Victorian Maroon.
I found Volvo RAL 3004 was an exact match, although this was in a brush-on jar.
I would imagine automotive finishers would have access to sprayable types.

Re: PLR Loco Roster

Very interesting Rik... but a bit of pedantry...
Loco No 4 is described as 2-6-0T.
But the pic shows trailing wheels under the cab.
As it uses a U class chassis, should it be 0-6-2T?

Shows I read the text!

Re: Merlin gas filler valve

It's taken me a long time to get to this!! I have a defunct Monarch, in process of batterification. The gas filler has the same thread as Roundhouse. I tried a valve from evilBuy, desigend to replace RH. This fitted, but the vent holes appear to be obstructed by the tank body. Consequently, the fill...

Re: Roundhouse mk1 Taliesin charging questions.

I have a MKI Taliesin.
There are four AA cells in the tank.
I use a smart charger (Axtronics) 2-12 cells.
Takes about 3hrs to charge.

Re: Trickle charging advice

[What batteries are they?}
{The battery will have a voltage and a capacity. The capacity will be in mAh (milliAmp Hours).}

Little John has 8 cells (MKI) or 6 cells (MKII)
These are AA size and the packs are supplied by Strikalite.
Typical costs for a made-up pack are £3 per cell.

Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?

Hi chaps, This latest diagram appears to show Y points at each end of the passing loop. This would be conventional practice for tramways. The system I used depends on the tram/train approaching the loop on the straight, and continuing straight ahead. Exiting the loop is on the curve. This format of ...

Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?

There wasn't much science involved! I've always been "into" tramways, and they make much use of single blade points, with one side being left open/fixed. Others posted some pics of this arrangement. The idea was that in the facing direction, vehicles would take the line of least resistance...

Re: Static points, has anybody created a working set?

In my early days, around turn of century, I made extensive use of fixed points. Most were scratch-bodged form plain track split and joined. Before taking the Dremel to expensive points, see these pics:- These were made...

Re: RH parts advice

Andrew,
The valve gear link in the picture is purely cosmetic.
Perhaps the loco stopped because the loose link or the pony truck jammed.

Anyway, a phone call to Roundhouse will sort you out.
