I promise to send it back to you when I get bored with it.

I've got a big holiday to pay for this year so I hope these stay in production until I can afford one.

Unfortunately it's not mine, the customer is coming to collect on Sunday it seems, however he is local and a friend so I will be seeing it regularly I'm sure :-) hopefully I'll get an overall pic again

Loco was collected Saturday night by a VERY happy customer, here are a couple of pictures I took of it last night at the local club:

This one has polished brass bands as opposed to black as well as the cab lamp being removable - both requested at specification stage.

I think it suits the blue!

Oooh, it looks a lot nicer in blue... If you were to remove the daft-looking lamp from the roof (it'd look much nicer on the rear bunker instead of that lumpy thing) and replaced the oversized sight glass RH seem keen on nowadays I'd almost go so far as to say it was attractive... Mind you, my loco roster includes a Regner Konrad and a WD Baldwin, so I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder!

I was watching the Indian railways programme on the Beeb last night, which featured the real thing, I happened to have the Roundhouse page open. I was very impressed by how accurately Roundhouse have captured the appearance of the prototype.

How are the two sets of valve gear controlled on the two bogies? Is there one mechanical linkage or have they opted for two servos, one on each bogie, hence the "only available in RC"?

It's two servos one on each bogie. I do like it in blue, it suits it... I think it'd look good in their "Crimson Lake" which is more "Madder Lake" than crimson but still a nice colour.

I guess that would be mine. I hope I like it in Crimson Lake, it's very difficult to visualise before you actually see it. I must admit it does look good in blue ! !

Dan,

Nice to meet you on Saturday and thanks for rearranging delivery of the Garratt. It arrived safe and sound this morning.

For those interested here are a couple of quick pictures taken on a rather dull afternoon. I have to say it's a much browner colour than I was expecting from Crimson Lake but it's growing on me and it's a beautiful loco in any colour.
