A few stills taken from the various video clips when the DVLR visited the PLR recently. Difficult to extract decent stills - the weather was dull and we rarely paused the whole time so quite a few came out blurry - these are the ones which I think worked out the best.

Nibbled, maybe, but not bitten. I can see the attraction, but unless I rebuild my railway, I think it would be have to be an occasional novelty rather than a mainstay of operations. I really enjoy shunting puzzles and watching a slow moving goods train meadering through the landscape. I think that would be a bit of a challenge with live steam on my railway unless I'm prepared to spend a lot of dosh.

As operation is my prime motivation, I can live with large compromises on the accuracy of my models and the look and feel of my railway as a whole (eg sticking with LGB couplings). But then, I suppose there's room in this hobby for all sorts of tastes and interests. Doubtlessly, there will be fellow modellers who find my approach and interests baffling. But I'm happy.

I agree completely Rik, this is a broad church (thank heavens) and all the stronger for it.

I don't believe there are any railways that don't include some degree of compromise. A good example is that figure in your last photo, it's way out of scale - at least the hat is! (Sorry Zach - I can hardly talk from under my trilby!)
