If been reading posts for a while and seeking advice from this forum so i thought it was time to show you what im up to. I have a few bits on the go.

So here goes

Im building isibutu with designs from keith Bucklitch

Complete with my first attempt at homemade cylinders

Its going really with working boiler. Need to modify the valve gear and build the steam chests now.
I am also in the progress if building the line itself. But the hot weather is slowing me down. Heat and heavy blocks do not mix. Ont op of that building small wooden scratch built wagons. Hope to have some track down by the end of next month for simple running. Must finish making the point work

A bit more progress a few more parts on. I want to get the inside of the bunkers done. i dont like the open space, looks funny . Anyway got any good ideas on how to roll the roof? as i would like it removable.

Still having trouble with a few of pictures but will keep trying

You can get proper machines for rolling metal, but they are probably a bit on the pricey side for a single job.

Try using a rod of a smaller diameter than the intended diameter of the roof. (for a 16mm roof I would try something about 1 inch)

Place the roof sheet on a surface that has a little give in it (I have used the top of my thigh!)

Roll the rod over it a few times and it should start to take a curve.

It does take a bit of practice and is not an exact science. Annealing the brass can make it softer to roll.

Failing that it might be worth seeing if a local engineering firm would do it for a few beer tokens.

Andrew, Yes as suggested by Tony W in the help me section on this forum. Seems to work well under testing to. And minimal Cost which is nice.

I also made some real progress on the cylinders last night. I just have the slide valve and all the outer gubbins to make and trim up and pollish. then ready to move onto the other side.

Just needs rivets and hinges, Rekon its cost my under £2 to build, will be using pins as rivets/bolts. will be painted grey and black when done. Also made some progress on the line today but to dark for photos now.
