i thought that, both nice looking loco's......now if only Roundhouse would dip a toe in the water, a Hunslet Waril would be a good idea ;-)

It looks like Accucraft UK are working through all the old Pearse locos and adapting the designs to be built in China.

I thought that too, not suprising really is it?

I hope they do Leeds No.1 soon.

Merlin never really died they just became Pease and Accucraft UK, not really surprising as the Pearse brothers created the Merlin steam locos and Merlin / Tom Cooper were the UK agent for Accucraft US.

Donald (who did the wooden coaching kits etc) sold with Merlin was Ian's dad I believe. Merlin being Tom's company till taken over by Wendy (the less said the better).

The redesigned Ragleth looks even nicer. I've been hanging my nose over one of them as my first 'proper' engine. But oh dear, the price increase has put paid to that for now. It would have been a real stretch before but there's no chance at the new price.

With the prices I suspect these are RRP's and while they will go up I suspect various retailers will offer some form of discount.

I did think the price was a bit Ouch but a nice looking model and wouldn't a Leeds No1 be nice.

I think Track Shack were listing them at £1500ish

Steve, let me correct some of these assertions. Firstly, Merlin folded, end of story. Donald Pearse set up Pearse Locomotives, Ian Pearse (his son) established Marches Models in 2000 and this morphed into Accucraft (UK) - neither business had any connection with Merlin. Merlin never had any dealings with Accucraft (US) and were never agents for them.

Hi Graham,

That wasn't my comment, it was a quote that I posted & corrected from funandtrains. I knew Merlin was Tom's company and both Donald and Ian were never part of the ownership.

I am very impressed that this is coming back. Its a cracking looking locomotive. Really want one but it does seem a bit expensive to be honest. I would like to say it isnt a problem and i will get it but for the RC version to be nearly 2k.... its a bit much.
