project shops

Post by jim@NAL » Mon Dec 02, 2013 7:12 pm

so the north avenue line has a pub now time for some shops .
been doing this building on and off for a month or more now iv been so busy and not having a camra for a bit I haven't been able to take any photos.so heres a few for everyone to see made from off cuts of plywood from work then coverd in basa wood srips and then lots of pva .then iv given its lots of coats of a mixture of gloss and black to make grey. after lots of coats it gives quite a good effect and is ment to look like stone work.the shop fronts are painted on glass from old picture frames and the roof is carboard slates guled on with pva and then painted with knotting the knotting sokes in the carboard and should help waterproff it after this its painted with black outdoor paint .

some nice details in that, but it might be nice to pick out some of the stones in slightly different shades of paint and maybe try a light bit of weathering to tone it down a bit

I like the stone effect and the roof is very effective, nice details.
Dry brushing and a wash would give more depth to the stone work.
If you used powders they would need to be fixed with a spray varnish. .
