Serendipity has meant that a little project I've fancied trying for quite a while is now underway

The major component (which I'm keeping "under wraps" for now

) turned up after an eBay search and a bit of cautious bidding - I just had to wait for the other "bits" to present themselves

A regular visit to our local charity shop turned up a kiddies Mercedes truck which looked about 1/19th(ish). This was purchased (for a pound) and whisked home for dismantling to provide........

An exhaust (for the bits box ready for the next diesel project)

A hydraulic jib (which will be given a hook and fitted on a bogie flat wagon - the P.Way gang will be pleased!

)

A "scrap skip" tucked away around the back of Brinsley Lodge (just needs weathering and filling with suitable scrap items)

and the piece de resistance, the bit I really wanted - a trailer! Here I've already had the hacksaw out and shortened it, ready for the mystery project

is this for moving your locos to and from butterley in a more prototypical fashion?

Here's the next step - I raided my store of plasticard sheet to make this box...

Skip goes on road trailer..... Hydraulic jib, plus other unspecified bits, go on top of upturned box, and there you have it.... Scrap metal road/rail loader ?

Yep, it's going to be a "restored" fairground organ to acompany the traction engine

Because I'm a natural cheapskate, this is what will be 'blasting out the choons' from the back of the trailer

Here's some 'bits' I'm painting at the moment, the pipes & drums

and the "Three Wigs"

Now the cat's out of the bag, I'd better crack on with it!

Wow! Sounds like a great project- are you not putting little bellows in and tuning hundreds of pipes and having it run off paper?

Now this is will be an interesting addition to the WLLR.

Must admit I've never found anything interesting at Charity Shops previously so do not visit them. Now that I've got my Jurassic Models 16mm scale ruler I should start visiting them, and car boot sales more often.

A rotating cam shaft driven off a 12v motor and some push rods and those figurines could be alive with tamborines

I'm sure you already have enough reference material, but here is one that visited the KFRPS Open Day in Leven last year.

The 1905 Fowlers Showmans Road Locomotive generates the electricity to run the card operated organ.

Hope to see something similar at Sir William & Lady McAlpine's Fawley Hill Steam and Vintage Transport Weekend this Saturday.

That's coming along very nicely Greg. Looks like you have visited the Museum Speelklok (Organ Museum) in Utrecht as well. An incredible collection that has survived the ravages of 2 World Wars. Here is their '3 Wigs' organ.

That's the plan Zach. However as this is their first and probably only Public event they are expecting thousands of visitors each day so there will probably be no 'exclusive' photos. Supposed to be some visiting steam locomotives as well but not found any details so far. Part of my day will be helping to exhibit Hornby OO Live Steam. At least the weather forecast seems to be improving as we get closer to the day.

The organ kit is an eBay haul of the Perlee street organ, but was intended for a larger scale than 1/19th. By simply leaving off the three wheel "trolley" and handle bar (which are now in the spares box), I've hopefully up-scaled it

Some more progress, first off a simple clip to hold the amplified speaker in place;

and the speaker in place

for a "test fitting" of the main parts;

Still plenty to do, but it's coming along now!
