We all have them boxes of spare bits of various things, mine just happened to be full of mamod bits. After a quick look quite all the parts were there for a chassis. The frames were a little bent, the rest of that loco now being part of the mamod fairlie. The wheels are from Pete's Jane when they slipped on the axles. Having the chassis together and running thoughts turned to the body. A blue body was ordered from dream steam, I was lucky to get it as it was the only one they had. This left the smokebox and rear buffer beam. One thing that I had noticed is that the front foot plate and body are different widths on a standard loco so I made this one wider to match the body. A quick bit of turning and the loco was finished. Talyllyn fans will notice the coupling gear and I hope they aprove. As this is made from spare parts Ive put a list below along with where the bits came from, everything else I have made.

Frames: Titan
Wheels: MHLR
Combustion chamber: Dougrail
Boiler: £1 from a show
Steam dome, back plate: on the way from Narrowminded
Body: dream steam
Cylinders, reverser, coupling rods: Ex- Robin and Dougal
General design help: Laalratty

Im guessing you will add a few finishing touches like lamp brackets and tank filler tops.

Have you thought of making a sander dome to cover the water top up? or is it a little close to the steam dome.

That looks great, super work and will certainly will stand out in a Mamod gathering

Thanks guys. The top up is a bit too close for a sand dome to look right but good idea. Tank fillers and lamp brackets are on the way. I may make the odd valve if you talk nice to me Greg and Andy

I;m very tempted to see if there can be made a valve that goes at 60psi that will screw onto a PPS boiler turret....

Question though, how do you now secure the tankfronts to the boiler? :s

There are slots machined into the inside of the smokebox as per the mamod one, then its just a push fitno bolts needed. Making those cut outs in the smokebox was one of the most evil bits of machining I've ever done ,the tube wall is about 10 thou thick just there.

So instead of aligned holes and slots : screw > smokebox > tanks tab, the tanks tab slots into the smokebox wall?

Nicely done mate. Then again, having carefully kitted-down your masterpiece for Swordbreaker ready for painting, I'm slowly coming more and more to appreciating the hard work you put in!
