Following the end of term at university, yesterday I actually had time to run a train! Needless to say the line was covered in snow, and needed ploughing. For the first time ever for me, this was done with a steam loco and a snow plough (borrowed from SLRmidge). Here are some pics...

The shed foreman wasn't impressed with his new winter jacket

Despite passage of the plough the previous night, Afallen was snowbound

Here comes the cavelry.... The snowplough being propelled by Urien. The wagon was acting as a coupling converter, the plough just having a chopper coupling with no hook

After needing 1 1/2 gas fills to clear the line, the passenger service ran with Urien

I wish i could run some trains here, but i'm going to need something slightly bigger than a 16mm snowplough to get through 1 1/2 feet of snow thats been frozen solid by -20 night time temperature conditions!

Looks like you had more success running in the snow than did today! I finally got around to clearing the MVR but the railheads were completely frozen, Russell was slipping all over the place Suppose I should have poured boiling water on it all, but I couldn't be bothered...!

Some sort of metal scraper might have been of use then, otherwise wait untill the slipping melts the ice!
