The CVLR @ Hampton Loade (& a Carrie story)

Post by Pendo Pilot » Mon Aug 23, 2010 1:53 am

Well finally today (sunday) I got to visit the Hampton Loade 16mm group as an operator rather than just viewing. I always used to go & view the line when around there but never had anything to run for the last 10 years. So as it it once again my local track since the house move, I took some stock & my Carrie for a visit.

Very friendly bunch & was made to feel very welcome.

Not many photo's to be fair & most of the ones I took of other loco's didn't come out to well...

As I ran Carrie around the line it seemed to be in it's element here, it ran perfectly. I was chatting to a few of the other members & eventually after they asked a fair few questions about her it turned out that this loco should run good here. Reason being this loco started it's life on this line & was a regular here when it was new! Turns out the previous owner used this line all the while, My Carrie ran here with him before he passed away. Apparently a lot of the members here were after the loco when he died but unknown his wife sold it it to back2bay6 & it was lost from the group. I found out a lot more about the loco from the group, apparently it's had very little use (low mileage), I always said I thought it must of been a shelf queen or not really run in as it felt quite tight  when I got it.

I will be visiting a lot more now (only 20 mins away) so my Carrie is back to her roots as well as her new home....

That's a fantastic back story to your loco - I really like it when stuff like that turns out. I bet she feels "different" when you're running her there now :D

Fantastic sunshine which was a suprise for a bank holiday really.

This time I took the Edrig & the Carrie. A nice mix of loco's were in steam today from a Willi to 3 Baldwins & lot's inbetween.
