Amber Valley Light Railway

Post by cjallenby » Thu Jul 29, 2010 7:40 pm

Last month I moved into my student house. It has a garden, of sorts... In this i decided to build a railway using spare track from the Dibden Valley Railway and DVR stock and locos. The line has one loco of its own, in the form of an 0-6-0 Merlin Major in black. This was none operational on the day, but has since been fixed. There will be more track arriving next week to extend the layout. On this particular day, a visiting locomotive from the Spowston and Norwich Light Railway was running services. Unfortunatley my internet is so bad, so Geroge will upload the pictures :(

Do I assume from the name of your line that you are somewhere in the Amber Valley area - in which case, you have a number of Forum members in the area to meet up with!

Not actualy in the Amber valley, but in Derby itself. Have visited Keith recently and now Merlin will be back in service!

Super! Is the AVR going to become a bit of a permanent fixture, or just lay it out when you want to? Will it expand?

It will expand... not sure about how permanent it will be. Probably get dismantled at the end of september until next summer. Merlin is going on loan to the S&NLR and then my own Dibden Valley Railway for christmas so from september its unlikely to come back till easter.
