Little Compton Railway

Hiya all,
I have decided (as said in another topic), even if I don't win any Compton stock (but hopefully do) to build a small Compton inspired 'railway'. I am hopefully going to call it the Little Compton Railway (if thats ok, or the name isn't already used?). It will be built at my mums house, but due to the lack of garden, will be built over plant pots outside front of the house (don't worry we live on the quitetest street ever, like 5 houses on it  :lol: ).
Will not be much but hey ho, it's something  :D
Also if anyone has any ideas of what it should be based on (like waterworks, steelworks ect,,,,) just say, since the real Compton Down has so many different indutries

The Little Compton Railway will be home to-

1) Steel Panto Trolley
2) 5x Open Wagons
3) Forest Spur Box Van

And 'Polly'.  :D

UPDATE (again):

Little Compton is going to brick works based, since there is a picture in a mag I have seen a pic of polly working in the brickworks, adnI have won lots of open wagons which are sutible for carrying bricks.Any ideas/thoguhts (good or bad) please say

Lots of tall chimneys and maybe even one with a fred dibnah on top. Definately have a few crates of bricks lying around, you can buy 16mm scale ones from Jims models

Yep. Thats the idea, although buildings have to be removable. Seen the bricks form Jims Models, probs going to get one, may even try and make some

I have a created a track plan, which i will post later on in the weekend since i'm currentley in scarbourgh, but consitists of a line which twists a bit, at one end is an engine shed the other an entrace to a clay pit and sand loader. At the engine shed end there is a headshunt which serves the siding for the brickworks building with a loading bay. At the mine end there is no sidings, but 00 gauge track which disappears into the clay pit, the 00 gauge track also has a siding to serve an engine shed, just need to build a loco for it  :D  .
On the way the line will pass kilns and plants
And thats all for now................

To keep in the spirit of things, use 'scrap' wood and cement to create the buildings

Peter took the most unlikely items and with some skill, odds and ends, and paint for atmosphre created small 'cameos'

I was lucky to visit last year and enclose one of my photos

I have more good news
The steel panto trolley i bought did not work, nor hve a fornt buffer beam (knew about both of them).
I had dreaded thoughts the problem would be the switch, whih would have ment it would probally have stayed static but no the problem ws corroded connecters on the battery holder (pheww) so a easy fix.
May try and get a vid of it running eventually.

Why couldn't you have just replaced the switch?

The switch is buried in the body, although i believe there is 2 tiny screcs to get to it it would have messed it up little bit. And the type of switch it has i dunno if i could get another

Have got some piccies of brickworks through the ages set up here for reference on this one - it has changed over the last 10 years, and was so pleased to find the little spirit burner still there in one of the tunnels which when filled with paraffin provides smoke which feeds through the interconnected pipework feeding various stacks so most of them smoke gently - with a fire pit under the big one for further special effects (just not when the neighbours have their washing hanging out)

Have a question for you all, before I do the final plan:
As you can see on this pic http://www.flickr.com/photos/11771542@N ... 016481506/ the briackwors railway is raised up, and 32mm gauge. So the question is, do i do this, and if I do do I put 45mm line along the front, or a standerd gauge line?

If now one understood the above post (it was a mash ). I'm wondering if I put a 45mm gauge line along the front, or a gauge 3 line?
Help please, I duno what to do
