This weekend I attended the Thetford model railway exhibition at Brandon school running on 'Nidderdale'. This saw 'The Earl's first proper run after running on blocks the night before. After a blocked gas jet and problems with the regulator were solved it ran very well. Slow and very controllable. The next day we ran on our recently extended permanent layout at Bressingham steam museum where I also ran the loco again along with my Festiniog rake of coaches. The following pics sum up the weekend. Sorry for the poor quality in some but the lighting wasn't always that good and it isn't the best camera.

I have to admit, I have never been a fan of the Earls, but seeing that once in black does make it look quite appealing!

WOW very very nice. Is your Curly roof braakevan and ip kit?
If so is the roof easy to do?

Curly roof van is an IP kit. The roof is fairly easy to do. It uses stips of wood over bracing to form the curve. I then sanded it and gave it a few coats of white paint, sanding after each and it has produced a nice finish.

Super pictures Louis (or is it Lewis? not sure ), very nice locomotive and stock. The layout looks nice too.

Paint job wont be as good as yours though, dont have the patentice.

Great just a shame I missed it! I did email Richard stone asking for details of the event. Oh well, I haven't actually met the group of which I have been a member for over a year now!
Never mind, I had a brill time in Cornwall!
