just thought Id take some pics of the railway entombed in snow

I havent seen the track fo ra couple of weeks now and am starting to forget where it actually is  :sick:
its under that drift somewhere


drifts running up the side of the factory


chimney brought down by snow last week


all stock left in Woodrow yard is buried




tipper wagons


tanker knocked over by a storm last week


up on the WVR
a tree damaged by heavy ice and snow


the station


after I do a little bit of digging


the main station is under there somewhere


found a spot where the snow was thin and tried digging down to the track but the ice rock solid down there

all hands to the snowploght

a blizzards just added 3 1%2 iches to it :sick:

Jese, that is a LOT of snow there Pauly, I can only remember having it like that when I was little in Yorkshire!

day has broken and the snow has finally stopped falling (for now)


right there is now nothing to indicate that there was ever a large station and bridge here...


or a small station here...

this is now much snow fell last night (I brush it off everyday)

Hiya Pauly, I was going to drop you a line to ask how you're getting on running your MSS saddle tank.
Having looked at your photo's I won't bother!!

It's pretty much the same hear in the E.Midlands and the ice underneath the snow makes it pretty impossible to run anything even if you brush the snow off.

Not sure about the idea of boiling the kettle to pour on the track - the first lot would be just about freozen by the time you boiled the next one!

I was thinking of running trains this weekend, but when I got home earlier today, i thought NO!

The daytime temp today was -4.5.C
Theres a foot of snow on the trackbed with ice below that as well

So it's school work as my bits from dream steam haven't arrived

Maybe we should have undertrack heating so the track stays clear in snowfal!!l. I saw they were using those hand held gas burners to clear snow on the terraces at ARSENAL FC. I cant imagine havin a gas blow lamp on the front of a loco. But Im goin to make a salt spreader using a fan blade to distribute the salt powered by a battery pack! Im looking at a tinplate hornby thats similar.
