Another New Year's Steam Up - WITH CELEBRITIES!

...yeah that's right, Tag Gorton was there. And Simon Whenmouth if you count him as he own's 'Anything Narrow Gauge'...

Anyway, I had fun. Got there, and Tag gave me his transmitter for his Riesa and bravely let me drive it. So that was fun, then ran Edrig when another train with Tag's coal wagons stopped on the running line, Edrig was manual (I forgot the handset), so ended up crashing into his wagons...

Simon Whenmouth was there, he owns a supplier of new and used models as I said about, also known as 'Hedgehog Valley Railway' on the 16mm egroup, and he's moving down to Cornwall so that will be good (or not so for my wallet...  :? ), but he brought some lovely little Wrightscale locos. Then there were the usual stuff, and Tag's coal Edrig that he said it was too cold to run.

I love that wingtank excelsior, I wonder if they do them in the wider gauges- they did exist prototypically...

nice locos them chedders my mates got a cuple i love driving them as they steam well and run great they steam well because they have cross tube in the boiler and a cermaile burner which glows red

Yeah it steam's excellently. The only downside to Cheddars is that the bodywork is steel, so you need to treat it otherwise it will rust. And they mount the whistle under the body, and steam's corrosive (Tag's removed it though and put a DJB one on).

That Peckett is gorgeous, and it's named after a bird you sick minded whatsits! The prototype is called "Gamecock".

Looks like Jim has been busy too, has he relaid the branch yet? Means we lose the "posing broken industrial steam engines" bit though...

Want to try and get to more meetings next year, Pete you are in charge of telling me when they are!

I've driven "Anthea" too, first time it was failed from the off with dead Rx batteries, the second time the run was cut short for the same reasons and it ran away with the throttle wide open Cracking loco though, goes very well indeed.

Matt, you can keep up to date with the group's steam ups on the group website - you are a member of that so you do have access to the member's page But I'll also let you know if I remember. You're still welcome to visit the MHLR with that Edrig of yours! Even if it is in whatever stage it's at in it's "bodyfication".

Jim hasn't relayed that branch yet, but it looks like it's going to be a balloon loop at the bottom of it for continual running
