The Pendle Valley Light Railway

Today the Morecambe members of NWAG did a mass invasion of a Lancashire Area Group steamup at the Pendle Valley light Railway. Despite being of small size the line was well laid out and a good example of a garden line in little space. Here are some pics


LMSjools Lady Anne (which now has the name of Seagull rather then David William) takes a train up the bank


SLRmidge brought Kittiwake and blew steam everywhere with the whistle (and had the odd derailment too )

Now occasionally you go to a steamup and something completely unexpected turns up...




It was a bit tight getting this beast round, but get round it did and very successfully. Indeed it was an Accucraft NGG16 that worked absolutely fine (just like TonyW's). This was because its owner didn't run it when he brought it, he took it straight to bits and rebuilt it into the engine that it should of been as built. It did sound well on the hill


Finally a 1984 vintage Lady Anne "Cantankerous", last seen (by me anyway) at this years PTLRfest.

Not from me, I decided for once not to do any videoing and just enjoy the steamup. However I LMSjools was taking quite a few video clips so I expect some of those will go up.
As for Seagull, my guess is if someone offered LMSjools the money he'd sell, but for the time being he's keeping it

Thats my mate Mikes line, hes got another running day this saturday for the 16mm NGM, I should be there as long as my early spare turn doesnt become a working turn. Should have my VoR with me and my little mamod "Miffy".

The line is a roundy roundy with 1 half of it double track, so its possible to have 3 trains running at the same time. 2 stations, an engine shed, 2 road loco sidings and a 3 main sidings off the main circle. As has been said its not the biggest of gardens but just show's how much you can fit in without over-powering the garden. Most importantly of all its always a warm welcome from Mike and Jen When visiting.

As a matter of interest.............. If you want an engraved stone "plaque" for your railway, take you piece of stone to your local monumental mason - he'll enjoy the change from doing gravestones!

When we were building the small engine shed at the Swanwick Junction end of the Golden Valley Light Railway, our local gravestone man made the date stone that sits in the gable end - makes the building more authentic-looking and starts its history off nicely!
