The West Lancs Railway's 16mm Layout

On visiting the West Lancs Industrial Day this afternoon I looked in the shed & found the Lancashire Area Groups new exibition layout.
They've used mamod track layed on a solid baseboard...

Actually, for such a simple layout that has quite a lot of character I think the uniform use of four-wheel engines and stock has something to do with it...

Looks quite funuctional- definately a railway that one can not get hurried by the next loco coming into steam or over lapping or running at silly speeds- just the right size for relaxing pottereing round!

It also looks good for little battery electric locos, which don't often get the "platform" (forgive the pun) to show themselves off. Bear in mind that for a new starter in the scale, this is a cheap way in!

Nice layout, but are you sure it's the Lancashire Area Group's?

Some member's of the railway trust were building one for the railway according to the newsletters I've been getting.

Yes you're right. I think that some of the LAG's group are also members of the West Lancs Rly.

Wow after so many years of talking about it I can't quite believe that the LAG have actually managed to get it done. I must get myself down to Hesketh Bank again some time, been a while since I last went to the WLLR
