Well, we got the best part of the afternoon running trains in the sunshire. Blue skys and sun were there most of the afternoon, and our call to pack up and go home was sudden black cloud cover and a drenching of rain! Anyway, at least we got a good few hours of fun...



Micheal Prout's 'Feanor' that I built for him, along with his recently constructed MOD wagon, was trudling around nicely.

One certain member of this forum, beginning with 'cracking', will be familiar with the fastest driving member in the group... when he's on the line with the fastest Merlin Meteor in the West, you have to make sure you keep out of the way... hence this.

I just had to get the owner of the line to run his Lyn with my dads L&B stock!  :D

Looks like a bloody marvelous day! I've never been to a garden railway open day and really really want to!!

Nice photos. BTW it's a Lyn not a Lyd, Lyd is the loco beign built at Boston Lodge, to the Manning Wardle designish.

Lyd, it will run mainly on the F&WHR system as that's where the investment has been made and the fundraising led by.

right thanks, I saw the plans and bits and bobs on a vistit to the Launceston steam railway 2 years ago and wondered how far it had got!

Could be steaming at the end of the year possibly.

Luvly Jubbly, a very nice looking garden and line. The Goldfish were great.

That looks like a nice line but, other than fresh air, what is supporting the track in front of the blue Katie on the freight train?

Nothing... its about a 2 inch gap between that board and another he fitted that morning hence why he didn't have time to cut a triangle of wood to fit.

TBH, I doubt this is too much of a problem...on the MVR, freeze-thaw weathering has been gradually eroding the breezeblocks on which Rutton station is built and undermining the track, but it has still proved strong enough to take the weight of the trains...good old "elephant proof" LGB!

Although it is penciled in to be run in at Launceston, Easter 2010

Are you sure the word is run and not destroy?
