Hi all, a few years ago you may remember I set myself the task of building a J70 LNER tram.

It was not a 'scale' model as such as it was built around a Lady Anne chassis and boiler assembly. As my Dad has been working on the rolling stock for this loco (complete W&U coach set and assorted wagons to go with) it has become apparent that one tram is simply not enough! So to compliment my other engine 'Suffolk Punch' I have decided to build another! This time based around the older motive power of the Wisbech and Upwell tramway, a 0-4-0 Y6 class.

The aim of this new project is to build something around another live steam chassis but this time to a better proportion of the original. Fortunately I have enough research material from the previous project to do this.

Now to find something to start with!

You seem to have a tram bias Ace? Not that thats a problem, I'm looking forward to seeing this

Haha, you've sussed me out! Yes I love tram engines and I'd like to put another one in the fleet.

I've been checking out the commercially available power units from the main manufacturers and I have come to a conclusion as to what it isn't going to be. As nice a unit as the accucraft one is, it's too big and (not wishing to kick the wasps nest) from the comparison with my accucraft engines, I don't think there is enough power. Roundhouse is the way to go, so on with the measuring!

I love Accucraftm but no disputing the power of a Roundhouse, like this Lady Anne at our club one day, it actually done wagons of the entire ring at one point, though it was slipping on pulling away, lol
