Unfortunately the Jack is not going to be brought back, I spoke to them a year or so ago about this but after the limited edition model they don't have any plans for a return...

I love my Lady Anne and would consider a Jack if available. The latest releases are not of any interest to me.

Roundhouse have now come forward and stated that they will supply the loco with black frames and also with the option of a straight funnel if ordered.

I understand using the prototypical model for the unveiling but am glad this is offered, perhaps some of the criticism will now be answered. There must have been some demand or they wouldn't have produced it.

Rumors I heard before the show said Roundhouse is way to busy making Garratts and that they where going to make a new model based on an already existing chassis and boiler to make it easy for themselves. Didn't see this coming though.

I think its good Roundhouse don't just make what's popular. We don't want to go to shows and see the same loco on every layout.

I think they've done a good job of keeping the production numbers about right to stay small but not get out done. They always seem to have a good range.

I think you have to keep an open mind on what you do and don't like, for a long time I paid no attention to the Irish lines but once I started to read up on them I became firmly hooked! And dare I say that I love the diesel CDR railcars...
I'm glad Roundhouse are still doing the Lady Ann because I reckon that chassis is crying out to become Manning Wardle 0-6-2 'Chevallier'

Whatever they produce won't please everyone . Too obscure... too similar to.... yet another sidetank/saddletank.. etc etc.

I think, wow, those new models are exquisite! Would I like one - yes please. Can I afford one - possibly not. Hoping to scratch together enough to buy a Bertie as a stablemate for my Ragleth.
Considering the limited market we are pretty lucky with the quality and variety from Roundhouse and Accucraft, not to mention Regner, RWM etc.

The first Bundaberg Fowler has arrived here at Derails - it's a 'British' version, black frames and without the spark arrestor, as I knew not everyone would want a colonial looking engine! It's also got R/C. Here are some pictures taken on my Samsung, we have another one (Maroon, black frames, with spark arrestor, R/C) due in about 3 weeks time. This parcel also contained my chassis kit for my next loco, but more about that in another thread...

It does look a lot better with the straight stack. Maybe if Roundhouse toned down the frames then it would look better (L&B chestnut would look nicer then res imo).

By the way how much are the 0-4-0 chassis; I would like a go at a kit at some stage (once work and HNC calms down)...

I would like to see Roundhouse, for a little extra, offer upgraded valve gear for the basic series. Millie looks great with all the upgrades that is offered, but is still a slip eccentric engine. Same with Sammie. Now if RH would develop a upgraded to thier semi walscherts valve gear, thus giving the engines true directional control via RC. I might sign up for one. I love my Frank S, it was in my price range. I understand that quality we expect from RH comes at a cost, but like others outside the UK, the cost gets nearly doubled(depending on the exchange rate), then add in another $100+ for shipping. An already expensive engine gets really expensive. I hope to one day own another RH engine as I really want the UK outline and ability to change track gauge. Mike

We touched on this earlier in the post Mike and thats why RH offer basic and classic series locos.  An upgrade Millie would just be another classic series loco with the same price tag as a Billy or Katie.

Accucraft cater for the middle ground between the two otherwise...

Not saying offer it factory installed, just as a kit that the user can install later if they want. The slip eccentric valve gear is why those basic engines are not on my want list. My nearly ground level line with its up and down grade demands RC and having reverse via RC is nice to have if not almost required. Either via a reversing block like Frank S and Accurcraft use or shifting valve gear on the RH Classic models. Just hard to stomach a generic Billy costing nearly $1800 US dollers. One reason I have to stick to second hand models and not able to directly support companies who's products are second to none. The exchange rate for those on my side of the pond has always been a stumbling block, more so if not having the depth of wallet that some folks have. Still love thier product and deeply admire the craftsmanship and consistant quality, just cannot afford it. Mike

It is possible to retro fit a Bertie with Hackworth valve gear, the major issue is removing the current eccentric rod.
