Well, I pondered over the idea all weekend, then very late on sunday evening decided to "preserve" the ex-MDLR halt that was up for sale on the BGRA Members Stall, (I already have an old MDLR coach in preservation!).

Seen here on the site of the proposed "Golden Valley Halt" prior to restoration, it once again sits adjacent to a water feature!

Water good place for the halt you could name it "otter halt".

Because of the shade, that corner of the garden is always coolest - 'Otter Halt would sadly be inappropriate :lol:

Golden Valley Halt fits, not just because of the provenance of the building, but it's also geographically the closest point on the railway to the real "Golden Valley" and its original home.

Out on the railway the good weather has let me get the new Halt done - "Golden Valley Halt" is now open and in use!

While the tackle was out, I ripped up Codnor Castle platform and re-laid it in preparation for the new signalbox (currently on the workbench).

Evolution

I was never really happy with "The Works" after I had to move it to make way for the Deviation around the new Codnor Reservoir.

Then, on monday evening, when I couldn't get my usual parking spot at the club, imagine my delight at finding a pile of loose stone in the corner of the side car park - a quick "thumbs up" after asking the landlord, and it was in the van!

So, today it was goodbye to The Works, and hello Quarry Sidings!

After a re-modelling session (interupted by having to do a 50's & 60's gig this afternoon), here's the last movement of the day - the Quarry Simplex making its way back on shed after the loaded tipper wagons have been collected.

Exhaust echoing off the rock face (no "badup wagons here - on board sound for light engine moves

)

Passing the loading chute,

then the dressing shed,

and finally setting back on shed.

Wheres the sheds going then?

All recycled into Quarry Sidings except for the concrete "Tuxcraft" signalbox (which was half buried to "lose" the locking room and turn it into an office) which is currently up for grabs if anyone wants it, and the ex-Koala Brothers House conversion, currently languishing behind Riddings Halt where I'm planning on converting it to a Cafe

First post on here since JulyJ! :shock:
Apart from the holidays there has been some progress though, just in case anyone was worried

Currently completing a "rush job" on the GRS Kerr Stuart LADY MARILYN which I'd listed as withdrawn from service for conversion to a less power hungry motor than the LGB Bueller (and then gone on to rip out the manual controls to fit R/C

).
Turns out that she's never had an "Official Naming Ceremony" and that a date has been set to coincide with some visiting celebrity or other, which only gives me a couple of days to get the job done!

I have a complete Playmobil loco (picked up at Peterborough courtesy of 90733

) which is acting as the main donor, though I'm keeping the LGB chassis for both practical and aesthetic reasons (ie, it fits and looks better :lol: )

So, a motor which runs very nicely on 4.8v with a brass worm gear

which doesn't match the pitch of the LGB axle gear

A quick raid of the "Stores" (bits boxes) turned up a selection of gears including a brass one!

I offered it up to the worm, and the worm smiled - it fits

but the LGB axles have a humungus diameter

Off come the coupling rods, out comes the wheelset, one wheel's removed followed by the existing gear and the brass gear is introduced to Mr Drill Press across the road (mine's gone walkabout

)

Axle re-assembly complete, a cradle has been fashioned to hold the motor in place in its new frames.
Once the various epoxied parts have had time to fully set, it'll be a "rolling chassis" test before returning it to the body, wiring in the R/C and hopefully have her ready for her "big day"

After a bit of midnight oil-burning down at Brinsley Lodge, LADY MARILYN was indeed ready to face her public this morning!

She moved off shed under her own power and radio control (a bit of "glitching" since I've yet to position the aerial correctly) down to the platform at Westwood where some actress named Marilyn Monrue thought the loco was being named after her!

Hahha, oh dear me. I did wonder why they famous monrue pose was always in the wrong place. Everyone knows it was actually from the blow down on a loco, not from a ventilator...

There's been a recent new arrival here on the W&LLR after the departure of LADY MARILYN to her new home shed!

She looks a bit of a sorry state, but is mechanically sound and runs a treat

The tinware is currently all dimantled and the tanks are pickling over-night in a sealed ice cream tub with Nitromors along with a "Jane" spec' plate;)
A half cab-back courtesy Superbiker of this parish will compliment the "Jane" spectacle plate and an "as new" smokebox will go at the front end of this Jamod project.

So, we're back to the previous mission statement and all loco's on the roster are metal construction, and the steam engines are, well, steam!
