Ages since any post on this but today the area inside the workshop where the railway is going was cleared. Amongst the stuff that was tidied (a lot of it to do with my dads fire engine) was a headboard used on Ravenglass and Eskdale railway preservation soeciety specials, so its been cleaned up as a decorative ornament for my next steamup. i'll post a pic of work in the basement/ workshop soon

I must have slipped into a parallel universe. That workroom and tidy do NOT go together. Only Me and tidy are less likely.

Here is a pic of the TIDY bit of the workshop, the piece of wood that can be seen was thought about as using it for the baseboard, although we now think its a bit small. The discovered Ratty headboard can be seen as well.

Been busy with this a this comming Friday (20th) im having an end of exams (and school ) steamup and i need more siding space. So the track has been laid for the carriage siding and loco shed area at Afonglas station. My dad has put in a loco servicing pit in one of the shed roads.



Holes will be drilled in the 2 wood strips for chairs to hold the rail in place. The hole was "dug" in the concrete using the angle grinder and lump hammer and bolster. Then a former was made using the 2 wood strips you can see in the pic and a block of wood between the strips. The hole in the concrete was made big enough that concrete could be poured around the former in the hole and when set, the centre block was lifted out to reveal a pit. Hope this all makes sense!

Wow, so long since I last had anything to add to this, indeed there were times when I never thought that track would reach the basement. However today, finally track inside the basement was conected to the rest of the railway. I now have 2 indoor storage sidings with a third waiting for the last bit of baseboard to go down.

The sidings are on a slight slope, but nowhere near as steep as the 1 in 25 gradient up to the door. Although Urien sounded absolutely supurb as it climbed the grade with the train seen in the pic. If my whole line was graded like that there would be no need for aftermarket chuff pipes. Would be a pain to operate mind.
