Well the 'railway' has a new loco, I wanted a battery loco for lazy running and this came up on ebay.
It was bought from a gent in duffield who goes by the name of Lewis Searle, it turns out he built and ran the first version of the markeaton park railway from 1989 - 1995 when it was sold on and extended. before the 15" visons came to him the line was to be 5" gauge and this was to be the first loco. So this loco has been sat dormant since the day she was bought in 1978 (one of the very first maxitrak simplicitys). Once he had decided to go into 15" he commisioned maxitrak to build him a loco for his line, that loco served the line throughout the ownership of the line by Searle.

VERY NICE - and a little "different" from the advertised photo?
That looks a beaut' and now I'm sorely tempted to get a battery diesel (realistically steam is out of the question) and join the fun!

Nice little(!) loco you have there. Am I right in saying that the styling is based on later Fowler locos?

Looks in very good order for an older engine, it must have been well looked after. Is its first outing booked yet ?

A good load for the Hunslet to tow when the battery goes flat !!

It is a little fowlerish with some ruston thrown in too.

It may go to derby next sunday if the snow eases off a little.

Saw it on evilbay and thought of getting it, but then
remembered that i already had a battery loco, so went and bought steam instead

looks like a nice loco.

Looks very smart Matt. Has it got a clack valve running between the water feeds from the tank ?

No, its got 2 clacks on one boiler feed, the water feeds and balance pipe are not yet on

That's a stunning 'little' loco and beautifully finished. I can appreciate the desire to have one and the enjoyment in running and riding but it is 'engineering' rather than modelling and I can't handle that myself, not even in SM32!
