Last bit of relaying on the unrebuilt section of the circuit was finally finished today so that the old & new join up nicely.

Of course, re-openings require a special guest, and the SLR north has somebody very special it can rely on to provide a little extra "bite" to the proceedings
Yes, he's back and just in time to cause chaos at Stoneleigh again, it's the Killer Bunny!!!
He he is with ihs ever loyal girlfriendat the official re-opening of Eaves Wood station. For some reason, not a single one of the yokel locals turned out to this great event. I wonder why....???
The bunny then comandeered a train to perform the ceromony at the new Waterslack station. Again locals were very much not in evidence but the bunny is reported to have been delighted to perform such an importent ceromany.
And Finally....
The very first derailment on the new section....

The limestone kiln chimney purchased at Stoneleigh is now standing by the quarry and the road crossing (also from Stoneleigh) is on the 'mainline'. Laalratty, I know there are no lamps on the gate yet, before you moan!

The part of rebuilding I've been dreading the most is the section covered in Babies Tears as it looks so good on photos. However, the track has progressively got into such a state of desrepair that many a loco has come a cropper! 
As I had a free afternoon, and with the help of LMSjools, we got stuck in. First I peeled back all the greenery and then dug out under the rails to see what was holding it up. Not a lot was discovered apart from soil, a door chime and some old crocks!
We then dug a trench, filled the bottom with cement & placed in lightweight blocks. After a couple of hours the undergrowth was rolled back & the track relaid onto a firm foundation...........
After the greenery had been peeled back......
Doing a bit of archaeology........
Cementing in the blocks.........
After track relaying..........

Today I started laying the return curve, so that trains can reverse direction. The photo illustrates just how much higher the line is now as the old route was at ground level at this point!

Superb stuff indeed, nice bit of work saving the overgrown section as much as possible. Look forward to the first video then..

The sounds of celebration from this house can almost be heared from the end of my street (metaphorically....) At last the SLR should be fully runnerble without the constant fear of something derailing or running away and overturning. Nice work Ian
