Hmmm seems a bit terminal that, Dad is quite useful for transport etc

Here are the latest pics of progress



The concrete trackbed is extending ever further and there are now 2 decent length sidings, which will become the platform and run round loop



This view is looking up from the junction at track level, the line at 1 in 25 can be seen rising steeply away virtually straight ahead, although there is no track on it at the moment. It will swing sharply right and keep climbing untill it reaches the door into my dads workshop

A great second photo, you can properly see the gradient with it. At least all this work means that it's keeping you out of mischief.

Here are some very recent (as in taken just an hour before being uploaded) pics. The trackbed for the station and run round is finished!





I think now that the work will concentrae on the line into the workshop, then sidings will be put in before making the area look pretty, with buildings etc

Always a good idea to get the line running before concentrateing on making it look nice.

Not so. there are all manner of shade loving plats that you could put in there. 'mind your own business' loves the shade and will cover any kind of ground very quckly. the other benefit of damp shady areas is that moss will grow there very quickly, try mixing some peat on with your concrete mix, it'll encourage the moss, and within 2 years you'll have realistic looking overgrown tracks.

Looks like you've been hard at work with constructing the line, is it going to done in "one big push"? or are you going to open the line up in sections? I prefer the latter, as you'll have something running whilst you're still building. It does wonders for the enthusiasm levels.

The line has been opened up in sections because im a poor underfunded student
I've got some mind your own business so I might try transfering some, but I went to the garden centre yesterday looking for some shade loving plants and found a type of stonecrop that likes the shade, although its still going to be more of a town as the area is my main station, might try the peat in the concrete trick though, possibly with my ballasting

Well a fire station would be good and probably fairly unique. Is it a town or village?

Havn't posted anything about this for a while, but progress has steadily continued. The loop has been connected up for a while now, and track up the 1 in 25 to the basement has been laid, and test runs have shown that both Gwydion and the Baguley can haul reasonable loads up the hill, although no track has been laid in the basement. Meanwhile, the trackbed has been cast for the loco shed and carriage siding area.


Obviously, all this tracklaying uses up a lot of ballast. Here is the Baguley leaving Afallen with a ballast train (acting as its running in turn after repair of a gearbox fault)
