are the frames red on the inside???

you can see form me signiture that the frames are red on the inside and out. I'd leave the inside of the frames red thogh as that is prototypicle

Have sprayed up the tender, god I love the colour! just waiting for it to dry then another coat and then I'll show you!

What do you think? River Alde (Vincent) now needs painting blue as well as River Deben!

Wow that's nice. Is that going to be the colour of the vincent when you finally get round to doing it?

How did you do the rivet detail too? A punch and good accuracy?

River Alde will be blue yes. I will might add some rivits to vincent to match the tender. It looks like River Alde will be painted before River Deben. Shall I just paint the cab sheet blue, or the cab sheet and the boiler?
The Tender was a cheap find at a garden railway show, I believe Mr. Chair has a similar one. I bought it minus the axils, wheels and axil boxes and had to reguage it and everything but it is just right I think.

hmmm this has gone from roundhouse millie mod to Regner Vincent mod!
I looked at the cab today and thought to my self I would like to have a go with slightly thinker brass sheeet for Millie's cab, River Alde was sitting beside me so with a little persuasion I quickly fitted the cab onto it to see what it looks like. I think the results are quite pleaseing and really change the stance of this locomotive. The cab will have a hole drilled into it for the whistle and then the other specticle filed to correct shape then I'll paint it and the cab sides blue to match the tender as well as the boiler and fly wheel. The frames black and we'll see.
Hopefully I'll end up with a fully anglicised loco!

Hmmm that does look very thin brass. Almost paper thin!

Looks good, personally, I'd leave the loco black and paint the tender, it looks quite industrial like that (and it's slow too, so suits

), and paint the Millie that blue... but yeah, fit the cab to it, goes well with the tender.

Satin, at a push. Gloss is just tarty.

Nice paintwork on that tender. Far better than I could do... I'm lucky, I have a live- in spray painter and hobby artist, aka housemate and girlfriend respectively!

today I dismantled my vincent and masked up ready for painting. It came apart easily and I storeed all the little bits in a small resealable bag.
The two small nuts which hold the boiler to the chassis

The whistle is disconected,

And the chain,

One stationary boiler!

Useful tip: If (like me) you eat Chinese takeaways, collar the plastic containers they come in. These make great containers for parts and other things which are not easy to store (like part sheets of glasspaper).

Allready do! but thanks anyway, I'll update as soon as these pictures are loaded!
Right pics loaded, the spray went well with each part given two coats of paint, I may give the bottom half of the cab another coat. I didnot get the cab top done today as whilst altering it (finishing off the specticle plate holes and a slot for the whistle valve (which still needs neatening) the soldering came apart, I'll solder it back up tomorrow hopefully and get it primed and top coated. The colour is quite a good match for River Butley (excelsior) but looks different in some pics due to odd lighting, flash etc. I'll get some pics in normal light as soon as possible as in some pics the blue look quite light!

So what do you think- those red frames have really got to go, I'll do them tomorrow hopefully as well! Well it is cirtainly unique!! And looking more British would you not say?

I really do like your regner now. It defiantley looks more british. One question i like to ask (it might sound stupid) Is have you just sold/ered the cab up using normal solder (ie with a simple soldering iron) ?

I used a blow tourch, liquid flux and harder solder than soft! It was much easier than I expected though. I am not very happy with this cab so might well scrap it and make another one from thicker brass!

I can only do 'normal' solidering (like layout wiring ect..).

To thin and flimsey really. Next time I will encorporate half round beading to make it look neater.
