I have added some more details such as fire extinguishers left on the running boards, tools boxes and so on...............

the engine is meant to look like its being restored

As you said the pictures asre slightly poor, are you using macro(the little flower)? It's meant for taking close up pictures.

well the camera Im using is about 10 years old!

nah mate it was 1 of the first digital cameras on the market
it cost about £500 when we got it new its more or less worthless now

It is looking good. I like it.
As well as using macro mode, you may also want to check the camera is focusing where you want it to, in some photos it seems to be focusing on the background.
I don't like cameras that make all the decisions!

to take close up pics, either use the close up setting, which is normally shown as a flower.
Or
find a stable surface, rest the camera on it, and zoom in.
