Thanks again all. I was satisfied that I'd produced a nice little engine but it's gratifying to know you agree.

I've taken on board the suggestions and already ordered a pair of cowcatchers from Swiftsixteen. Once I've fitted those and done a couple of other little things to get it completely completed I'll post some more pictures,

That is a superb model Brian, you are to be congratulated. But I have a couple of questions for you as I am building on a Ragletyh engine unit as well.
- What thickness brass have you used in your construction.
- Have you got a photo of all the components under the engine, I wanted to put my throttle servo out of sight below as mine will be a chunky quarry style of engine, but I couldn't fit everything in, my RX is up in the side tank with the for/rev servo, and throttle servo on the footplate with only the battery's (4 x AAA's) and switch below.

I used 0.7mm brass for the construction. I found this made a nice solid body while still being fairly easily bendable.

I haven't got any other photos of the R/C fitting handy but I will take the cover off and take some close ups and post them for you as soon as I can.

Here's what I did under the floor

The 4xAA battery pack and regulator servo are clamped to the underside of the floor by the brass bracket I made held in place by a single nut and bolt through the floor.
And here is the topside. As you can see I've already got the buffer beam off for the fitting of cowcatchers. I must paint that rod black before I reassemble.

Finally here's a close up of what's in the side tank, again mounted in a home made brass bracket - switch, reversing servo and you can just see the orange receiver at the back. The switch is a little bit out of the way there when the body is on, but not really a problem unless you've got short fat podgy fingers !

Well, Bex is finally completely completed, I think.
I've spent quite a bit of time adding some finishing touches, some suggested by all of you, thanks, and some which I had in mind anyway :

Sandbox fillers made and fitted
Footplate and cab roof deglossed slightly (probably still a bit shiny)
Cylinder ends painted black
Black gas knob replaced with "brake handle"
Cowcatchers (Swift Sixteen) fitted
Buffer beams modified by filing the curved section square - I think it looks better with the cowcatchers
Vacuum pipes made and fitted
Choppers replaced with square pattern

I think that's it, hope you agree it looks properly Manning Wardlish now

And finally one with a matching coach. As I mentioned before it looks a bit overscale for the coaches, which is a shame, but unavoidable when designed round a Ragleth.
