All the Windows are now in and the doors are to be made next... Also got a Trenarren Models Fire Bucket stand to build up for it... I'll probably mod it to suit my needs...
Then its on to the painting and final fettling...

Apologies Peter! I had replied to you in an earlier post but it didn't really give you a solid answer. Yes.. His name is a pun as his character is a bit of a jobs worth and is often called a w****r because of it so I thought the name Bates would be ideal :p

I had thought it was some reference to that TV program Downton Bobby or something....
That is superb work. I would love to scratch build, but I don't think I have the imagination. I always have to have a picture of something to work to.
Have you changed the design much as you have started construction?

There have been a few changes... The canopy has been changed once but I'm not really working to a design... I'm literally making it up as I go along.

A few bits to keep you all updated...
The Table and Chair have been stained using a furniture repair pen... Oak... The edging on the building at the bottom and corners has also received this treatment.
Also decided the bottom half was going to be Maroon...
Its getting there... all four walls now have had a coat of Maroon. Hopefully they'll only need the one coat.

Master Bates is very happy with his Cherry Wood flooring and Maple skirting boards
The walls will be painted White on the inside.

Next time paint the whole sheet, then cut the slates!!!

Agreed.
Just apply splodges of varying shades of grey at random on the sheet, then use a brush to move the paint around until its all covered and looks a right manky mess.
Then cut the slates and mix them up before laying.
That way you get a random mix of shades that all complement each other, and some slates will have colour variations actually across an individual slate, just like t' real thing.

There's a peg for Master Bates' jacket and hat... I can put another in for Mr. Isle... And a bucket for umbrellas
