Then back to the new innovations at the balcony.
I have now got radio controlled points, so I no longer need to lift my fat ass from the hammock or chair. It is a simple rc commonly used for garage door openers. Bought it on ebay.
The 9V battery works well with the LGB points, but the relays at the rc receiver seems to be more satisfied with a little bit more, so I have turned to use a 12V pack where used batteries from the loco rc transmitter get an extended life. All covered by a coal stage from Modeltown.

My current project: Tunnel.

Any garden and model railway should have a tunnel. Especially the small ones
as a tunnel gives an illusion of the railway being larger than it is.
I have had plans for a tunnel at my balcony for quite long, and I have stored
a bottle crate for the purpose, but recently I came across a large masonry bucket
and found it to be a perfect base for a balcony tunnel.
The bottom has been cut off, turned and glued back on top forming what
hopefully will become a nice flower bed.

Well, I think that we can safely say that you´ve achieved your objective

Check out the Backbone Rock Tunnel in Tennessee for something almost as short.

I have now added tunnel portals from Busch. Simple and light weight
plastic stuff just glued on using Loctite All Plastics Super Glue.
The gaps on the sides will be filled with polyurethane foam.

I´m liking this more and more. I´ve never dared have tunnels on the K&NWLR, as I was certain that the train would stop in the middle, but this is a solution that I hadn´t thought of.

Now the tunnel portals need some weathering,
and I'm looking for some suitable plants.

How about some quick-growing evergreen groundcover plants which would flow over the edges and give you a green hill pretty fast.

An interesting cross between indoor and garden. You've got some good variety in that middle planter.
The Charles in green always makes me wonder of a "might have been" if the Ffestiniog Railway had managed to get its hands on the 12inche/foot Charles.

Then the railway have attended its first show as a mobile railway, and with a very nice backdrop. Buildings are from other railways, some you might recognize. The occasion was a model railway show at the Norwegian Railway Museum at Hamar. I think it worked very well, and hope others were inspired to create something in their own garden or on the terrace.

This looks very much like the way that the French National Rail Museum in Mulhouse, uses the space between the Trains at their annual exhibition. Wish you guys weren´t quite so far away.

Ditto. So many shows around I would like to visit, and I'm not going to Peterborough this year. Just gets too long and expensive for just one day.

No activity at my balcony yet, but maybe I can get the stuff out after easter.
