that CDR class five looks lovely, is it scratch built or is it a kit

its a shame that two of the three survivors aren't looked after

this one is No.4 Meenglas (originally No.16 Donegal) Columbkill (the one in the pic) lives in the building behind Meenglas

Ah, poor Meenglas. As one of the railway magazines once pointed out, it's an absolubte scandal that she's rusting away outside when there is enough room in the building for her...

As for the model, I don't know if it is kit or scratchbuilt. There were a lot of beautiful models on that stand but no labels, and I didn't get a chance to ask any of the operators about them. Never mind, I'm sure somebody will know the answer...

I think the general scheme with the Irish stuff is that John Campbell had built the locos and Neil Ramsay the wagonry, carriages & railcars. All fantastic stuff.

tell me about it me and my dad put an offer in for the pair of them last year but no one is sure who owns them so they couldn't sell them to us, they did say the offer was good enough though:D

Londonderry is my home town so i get to see the pair of them often

although every time i see Meenglas she looks a little worse for wear

It's one of these things that is in the pipeline as a future model, but not available yet. The one in the pic I think will be the prototype, unfortunatly it has only come on a bit from last year. I did ask them about the feasability of adding a trailing truck and got a bit of a withering look...

DJB do also make a model of Katie, and that is in production AFAIK
Pauly, the winner of the passenger stock shield was an ambulance van that was part of a diorama rather then being on its own. That did not seem right to me at all 1; I considered it to be goods stock and 2; Why should this entry be on a diorama when everything else wasn't? It surely must have some influence on the judges. Taliesin has been robbed for 2 years on the trot now! I hope he doesn't feel let down by the poor judging.

Due to a nervous cameraman and some idiots (ahem, Zach) looking the wrong way, I have cobbled together this 'team photo'.

I'm the one just to the right of Mr Bond - ended up at the right place at the right time quite by mistake (as Connor wanted another go on No. 3's footplate) and got dragged into the shot by Zach. Sorry guys the plan was to get over there and meet up with everyone but I got talking to Roger on the brandbright stall and before I knew it it was 2pm. I didn get chance to have a chat With Mr Bond, MDLR, Iron Man and Sir Hayden though at times during the day.

The 5s are a collaborative effort. Built using John Campbell's boilers riding on frames by Paul Mellor, powered by Roundhouse cylinders and wrapped in Worsley Works body etches. The red 'un in the photo was put together by John Campbell and the Black 'un on the table (not in the pics) by Tim Furber.

just referring back to my entry, I think the competition was high and the ambulance was a very nice model, built to an extremely high standard. I certainly wasn't robbed by mr bond, the technical aspect of your modelling is superb and brings a new dimension to modelling. Anyway, a week volunteering on the FR next week should give me some inspiration
