Sort it out Roundhouse!!
I have a production one here and they do not have those large bolts. I suspect the owner removed the side buffers and put these in their place.

the side buffers are a 2BA fitting. when you have a center buffer version from roundhouse they use the 2BA holes to fix the buffer beam, resulting in the large 2BA bolt heads.
If anyone does order a tom rolt and wants to run it with side buffers get on the blower to ron grant and get some oversize buffer heads. side buffers are a pain in the bottom! they bufferlock all the time on tight spots in bends with scale heads. Also it is VERY critical that all of your side buffered stocks buffers are the same centers and heighs othwise you will get buffer lock.
The strains I go through to model my favourate railway
PS Tom Rolts boiler is black

Why arent the fronts of the cilinderblocs painted black as with Charles/Linda and Taliesin? Much more anoying then two bolts on the bufferbeam IMHO
Want one though.

I noticed that too and painting them black would be the first thing i would do if I had one. I seriously don't think any pictures can do it justice, it looks so much better in the flesh. I want one too
