Major groundwork underway at the mo'

Codnor Castle station is currently "displaced" and awaiting re-location.

This is because the crossover has been removed and is being replaced by a "folded dog-bone" loop.
Here is the end of the loop currently laid out to check clearances after much moving of rocks and trees!

Westwood Station is also receiving a major make-over

The cattle dock has moved to Loscoe

Sorry for the delay Richard (and Zach), it's been one of those "round tuit" tasks, but here's a shot at explaining the route.

First off the Blank Canvas, ie the area I have to work with. As I've said before, it's only a small garden and within that I have 34ft x 14ft to play with.

Actually, while clearing out a cupboard I came across some really old photo's from around the year 2002 BC (Before digital Cameras!:lol:) when the project started, here's how it all began

and here's the trackwork of the original "Loscoe Grange Brickworks" with the scenery just starting

Anyhow, the initial expansion was a "border raid" - I extended the line around the garden in a simple oval.

This remained in place with several changes to loops, sidings etc until the "Figure of Eight" was put in last year to extend the run and present more photo opportunities.

When I could no longer live with the crossover, the current plan was hatched - voila! The "Folded Dogbone"

Thats a grand idea, what will you use for the scenic breaks bearing in mind you'll have to step over them?

The scenic breaks are already there - the loop takes the line back through Codnor Wood, so the trees provide the screen.
You'll have to wait until the trackbed is done and the line re-laid for the photo's

(A slow process at this time of year, but hopefully it'll be done before Christmas!)

Hi Looks good its nice to see the old concrete washing line posts are they still in situ. Its amazing what you can achieve in a small garden you have proved it very well what can be done.

Looking good. The folded dogbone looks a better solution to creating a longer run than the crossing. Look forward to seeing more progress!

I've kinda "hidden" one of the posts with The Quarry, while the other sits at the top of the line that theoretically doesn't exist - ie the short stretch of the continuous run between Loscoe & Westwood (kinda like a fiddle yard on an indoor layout)

There lies the problem - no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't avoid steep gradients in the space I had (and allow SWMBO's pedestrian access to the "bird feeding station")
