I wasn't aware of the Eling one, I guess they are the only two left!

Mine is very much a "based on" building, the windows aren't in the right place and its certainly not big enough but it gives the impression and fits the space...

Right! Started Aldeburgh platform today!

and ran some trains

River Alde did most of the work but sadly no pictures of that.
New steps so I can access terracotta cutting when the inevitable stalling happens!

That looks excellent Mr B, and nice work Dan! Much neater without the coal bunker and she looks to be performing very nicely :D

(Though personally, with that "long reach" regulator, I'd have been tempted to go for a full rear cab sheet ;) )

Given we have the hottest driest weather on average here in Suffolk the Drivers didn't want a full cab!

No steam recently due to exam revision, I've just enjoyed sneaking the odd 10 mins weeding and watering and watched the track grow!

I know my two Jack Russells aren't bothered by my loco... but they used to chase my Scalectrix cars something crazy.

The cats don't mind the trains, Millie (the fat one in the photos) just dozes about. They both, however, still like to defecate next to the line and shovel soil everywhere which is infuriating!

A big box arrived the other day from the DLR works...

River Butley went away for a much needed service and a few cosmetic changes.
Work done by Dan includes:
Clean up, test run and replacing of missing bolts (ones that were missing when I first got her)
New O ring glands were constructed of a new design to stop the cylinder glands blowing past causing a drop in power
Timing reset
New cab back, to replace the bunker, with a hole for the fireman to put the back of his shovel through (one of my favourite features of NG locos)
Lamp brackets
Fixing the wobbly crank.

You know its surprising how quickly the line side greenery grows.

Thats better...

Very happy to have her back, Thanks Dan for all the work!

I know how you feel mate, my dogs like to crap all over my railway and pee on the plants (generally the expensive ones!)

it just makes me want to strangle them!

Yup, paint shop next, hoping for the same scheme as that applied to River Alde.

And pauly - some pets just don't get garden railways do they?

It's worse when it's the neighbours pets that are doing the damage

River Butley will shortly undergo testing and then will (now officially) be having a repaint into full GER blue lined red splendour courtesy of Tony Willmore. Exactly the same scheme as River Alde has. I'm rather excited about this...

My labrador is no different - always wants to know what Dad is up to which is why my line is being built off the ground! ;)

Cheers,

Tom

Its been a while and I've realised I have been taking a lot fewer pictures and videos recently.
Anyway,
A quick update:
River Butley is away with Tony Whilmore being painted
River Deben is in service, I've sorted the RC qlitching problem and she is now a joy to run
River Alde has had the lettering "DVLR" applied to the tender in gold, shaded with red and has had the bearings replaced on the tender although the tender could really do with new sole bars. A link has been taken out of the chain to take up some slack.
IC 1 is still dead with shredded gears and is currently being used as a charger for River Deben's RC batteries
IC 2 is working but the charging circuit doesn't work so AA rechargeable batteries are used.
Been doing a lot of work on the freight fleet, 2 new Fish Vans have been made and are waiting for rooves and under bits, the quarry trucks have been repainted into DVLR grey as has a new closed van. I have also been catching up with painting the strapping black on lots of wagons which got to that stage and no further.
Railway wise:
The shed got a tidy and a re-arrange so I can actually use my lathe and so I had to relay the track through the shed (and cut a hole in my bench)
I have also upgraded the bridge at Woodbridge to comply with health and safety. Constant weeding and tending to the pond also goes on.
Pics!
