A table and bench set for your railway pub!

Post by Mrs F Controller » Sat May 26, 2012 9:09 pm

I decided the other day having painted the Pitz Cafe that a set of table and chairs for those sunny days would be a good idea and anyway all those Morris Men need to sit down at some point.  But I found chairs quite difficult to make so decided to go for the table and benches instead.  I've made 2 and to be honest cost me nothing at all as I already had the coffee stirrers and a handy length of strip wood, glue etc.  So instead of weeding I spent the afternoon making this......

And on this hot and sunny afternoon the PW staff really appreciated it!

Oh and I have put it on the MPLR website on the 'How we did it' page. I am sure that you are all much too advanced modellers to need to know!

Very nice! Are you writing it up for one of the mags?

I'll need another wagon to transport these around with the pub now! Looks great. AnDel models also make them out of resin which might be more weather durable.

I really like that - (especially the price compared to a "shop-bought-resin-casting" ;) ), and I also really like the beer glasses! They're the closest I've seen to scale. Any info please Mrs F ??????????

For treating, wont Creosote or ordinary paint with varnish do? Most benches are a dark brown anyway from being treated

I would use wood stain, reapplied annually.....................

Yes think you are right can't see why not as they are only made of wood after all. We will be using some wood preservative anyway as will be doing the leanto and son's shed.

As for the beer glasses, I think they are very realistic too Narrowminded. They are from an online dolls house website called 'Miniature Marvels' www.aminiaturemarvel.com Great website in 1/24th lots of stuff worth a look. The tankards are a bit fragile mind as they are made of real glass and the handles snap easily. :|

Sorry if this has gone on twice but it suddenly disappeared as I was submitting it! :?:

Thanks for the link Mrs F - I couldn't help but smile when I saw the 1/24th Tampax box, now that's a "period accessory"!
