Can I add a resounding "me too!" to those who like the bridge area. I have a corner that may lend itself to a similar treatment. More photos always welcome!

16/45 makes better sense to me for 2'6" gauge than 16/32. Personally I am one of the 15/45 brigade which I find to be the muts nuts for 3' gauge after years of struggling with smaller scales - 5.5mm, and 4mm.

I find that the W&LLR provides me with an incentive to get on with the S&CLR&T. It is a lovely little line.

I was only joking gentlemen....32, 45, it's all the same to me.

I just need to get a gauge convertible engine. ;)

In July 1898 the Lynton and Barnstaple aquired a Baldwin 2-4-2 to supplement their three Manning Wardles. The Baldwin was named 'LYN' but was commonly referred to by the staff as 'the Yankee'.
LYN was a popular and distinctive engine that was also the most powerful on the line - on occasion pulling five-coach trains, one more than normally allowed and it was this level of performance that saved her from the cutters torch when the line closed in September 1935 under the Southern Railways ownership.

The Southern offered the loco to the owners of Fayles Tramway in Dorset, to work the ball clay line at Norden after an unsuccesful experiment with the 2-6-2 'RUSSEL' left the lines original 0-4-0 engines 'TINY' and 'THAMES' struggling with the increased traffic. (After all, increased tonnage delivered to the Swanage Branch would result in increased earnings for the Southern Railway!) and the loco was delivered by rail to Swanage.

Unfortunately, it had been found that the wheelbase (and in particular the pony trucks) of 'RUSSEL' prevented the loco negotiating the trackwork, so the offer was duly turned down by Fayles and 'LYN' sat forgotten under a dust sheet in the back of a shed in Swanage Station Road, until now!

Meticulous detective work by members of the Trent Industrial Tramway Society tracked her down and after tense negotiations with her current owner in Swanage, she has been aquired and transported by road to Westwood for preservation!

  It's actually a near mint Spectrum example - because of the condition of the model (and box) I'm in two minds whether to actually convert it to battery power as planned or offer it on "as is" to someone who runs track power

It might even end up as a "Shelf Queen", since it was one of the first engines I used to press my nose to the window lusting over when it was first released!  ;)  Ah nostalgia!!

Cheers Matt :D

I managed to get the station area "prepped" today too, so with a bit of luck weather-wise I'll get it planted out in the garden tomorrow!
