Keeping the line clear!

I got some snow today, its not to bad down here in the valley but outside the valley its horrible.
took me 2 hours to drive 5 miles out and back this morning!

This loco Ill be using the plough with is Paul Jackson




After burning myself trying to get it on the track with the plough attached I did get it going.

Ain't surprising that there'a fair bit of snow, I got about 2 inches this morning at school (and as usual the 6th form were subdued to becoming 5 year olds again! ) and if i get snow here, then the rest of the area really has got it bad! So i would love to be home at the moment! Shame i ain't though

Some great pics the Pauly. But I just have to say I am totally and utterly Jealous!! Not only do you have snow (and I was told to expect snow more often when I moved to Scotland) but you also have the opportunity to go out and clear it from a line!! Ya lucky beggar!!

The snows gotten really bad now, the ploughs just tall enough to clear it.

Id almost finished when Paul Jackson had a little accident



from what I understand a thick layer of ice had built up on the inside of the rails of 1 section of track and Paul Jacksons wheel nuts must have been loose because when I attempted to clear the snow off that section the gauge of Paul Jacksons front wheels went from 45mm to about 39mm
PJ bounced up into the air and when it came back down the plough broke off and PJ came to rest between the rails



luckily no other damaged was done and I was able to regauge the wheels, unfortunetly the plough will need some rebuilding




unfortunetly just after this all happened it started snowing again

A proper dual gauge loco... 32mm up front, 45mm on the back...Sorted as a Uniloco anyway.

thanks for the correction, they wev got well over a foot of the bloody stuff now.
its comming off the roofs in big sheets, its gotten so high on the walls it starting to sag over the edge and it looks really weird.

Oh great If it's bad in wales tomorrow when I'm in London i'm going back to York instead, but seeing that it's a foot near there, that means the East Coast Mainline will be in termoil! Ahhh Just adds to the fun!

I was waiting for Sir Nigel Gresley at the weekend and all trains were late, some up to one and a half hours and there was only a thin layer that had disappeared by midday! Could have been more further up though I suppose.
