Started with Sir Theodore which was riding too high for my liking on his chassis which is now lowered and looks much better! - Ran a clearance trial this afternoon though and I now need to "trim" the new platform at Loscoe Halt
Then started work on repainting my rake of GVT carriages - in the past, the GVT was deemed to be the "Golden Valley Tramway" from where the Westwood & Loscoe Light Railway Company obtained the rolling stock which was in a brown & cream livery (the colour the previous owner had painted the coaches!)
They are now resplendant in Glyn Valley green & white, including the latest addition, an Andel 2 comp closed coach but oh what fun painting it in acrylic!!!!!
Acrylic paint is my potion of choice for brush painting indoors - it attracts far less attention to my activities from SWMBO than "smelly" enamel. Applying it to the Andel resin castings though is like trying to paint a teflon pan with olive oil!
I've found the knack to it is to "work" the paint onto the surface, brushing as it starts to dry or "go off". This produces a very effective undercoat onto which a second, top coat, can be applied after only a short length of time.
And yes, I had washed the kit down in a detergent solution before I tried painting it - just as I've done with previous kits (where I've only painted the strapping, with the same results, just on a smaller scale so it was much less frustrating
)Anyhow, they're all drying nicely now and in the morning I'll be applying the transfers picked up at the AGM. Pics to follow
